JUST A LITTLE MORE LIGHT
Monday – September 16, 2019, Elul 16, 5779
Greetings precious brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and welcome back to this powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. Our God is so good to give us His Word to light our path. Let me point out that the Word of God only lights our path when it is received as absolute Truth, by faith, in love, and led of the Holy Spirit. One of the things I strongly encourage as one reads Scripture or these teachings is to translate various words to the root meaning. For example, ‘love’ above is agape (Greek) love which means obedience to the Word of God, adherence to Blood Covenant, and a selfless lifestyle. I hope you have noticed that there is not one drop of emotion in Godly love, agape love. The Word we receive or have as a simple academic exercise has no power or light in our lives, it is simply information like any other information. Unwavering faith must be applied. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and dive into the Word for us today.
John 12:36 (KJV)
36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
As I was finishing last Friday with multiple days of talking about the light the Holy Spirit prompted me to discuss this just a little further. It is extraordinarily important that we stay in the light, which is the Word of God we know and believe. There is nothing good in the darkness, only stealing, killing, and destroying. We must act on the Word we know, and that we have revelation concerning, to not do so is sin. For a season, it is possible to know a certain Word as information and not have revelation and I believe there is a season of mercy, grace from God here but that is limited. We must be continually seeking to move closer and closer to our God. However, be very clear that failure to study diligently and progress in the Word of God is sin and does not protect one due to ignorance. Now, let’s move to the following Scripture, please read it carefully.
1 John 1:5-10 (KJV)
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
The Apostle John is speaking to Christians, you and me. He is telling us that God is pure light and there is zero darkness in Him. Let me point out that although Jesus walked the earth as a man, He also was pure light with no darkness in Him. It is possible for you and I to do the same and in fact we are commanded to do so (John 14:12). The light is pure (free of contamination) Word that we have some level of revelation concerning and are applying to our lives. We are told that God is light. Well ladies and gentlemen we also have the spiritual DNA to be light just as He is light (Genesis 1:26, 2:7). When we profess Him as our Lord (one highest in authority in our life) yet we choose to walk in darkness, go into dark situations where the Lord did not send us we are in sin and far from the Truth. The antidote is always the same, sincere repentance and the receiving of forgiveness. On the other hand, if we choose to walk in all the light that we know we are in fellowship with Him and the Blood of Jesus cleanses us of the areas in which we do not yet have light. Meditate the following passage and rejoice.
Colossians 1:12-14 (KJV)
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
It is the Father who made it possible for us to reenter the family of God, the Kingdom of God and be a partaker of light. There is nothing more powerful than the Word of God spoken in unwavering faith. With the declaring of Jesus as Lord we were instantly translated into the Kingdom of God, redeemed completely by the Blood of Jesus of all that stood in the way, sin.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
