WASH ONE ANOTHER’S FEET
Friday – October 4, 2019, Tishrei 5, 5780

Greetings precious brothers and sister, sons and daughters of the Most High God and welcome back to this empowering Bible Study of the Book of John. The featured pictures this week are from a recent overnight at Ocean Point Inn by my beautiful bride and yours truly. Ocean Point is located in East Boothbay and is a beautiful location and nice place to stay with an inhouse restaurant. Today’s picture of Donna and myself is just down the road from the Inn and a nice place to sit and enjoy the ocean and each other. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment and hit the “love” and “share” buttons to give us feedback support and to expand the reach of the Truth, the good news of the Kingdom of God. This is the message Jesus preached.
Mark 1:14-15 (KJV)
14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
We are the sons of the Kingdom of God and have by birth (born again) inherited all the obligations and benefits of the Kingdom. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text for today and read it aloud.
John 13:13-17 (KJV)
13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.
15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
You will recall that I left off yesterday pointing out that the word “Master” from the text above means instructor or teacher and the word “Lord” means the One of highest authority. As we have discussed before having authority and having power are two different things. A person may have the authority but not the power to carry out or enforce the authority in the face of rebellion. Any parent knows they have the authority but the children are freewill creatures and will make choices sometimes contrary to your will. The same is true of Jesus our Lord. He is highest authority (the Word of God) but we have a freewill and make choices as to be obedient or not. When we are obedient to the Word the Power of God can flow unhindered in our lives and when we aren’t the curse can flow unhindered in our lives. The curse is stealing, killing, and destroying in our lives. When we do not obey God is obligated to stand back and allow the devil access for, we have turned aside to another god in that area of our lives. If we are not careful that corruption will spread and like a cancer effect every area of our life, and eventually like cancer kill us.
Next we find Jesus giving the admonition that His disciples are to wash each other’s feet just as He has washed their feet. We are not talking about a basin of water and a rag; we are talking the pure water of the Word of God. Iron sharpens iron, Water (Word of God) shared as led of the Holy Spirit, received, believed, and implemented is cleansing of the spirit and body bringing great protection and Anointing.
Proverbs 27:17 (KJV)
17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
The countenance of a person may be referring to the face but can also refer to the whole person such as in spirit, soul, and body. The other aspect of this secondary text I want to bring forward is that in order for iron to sharpen iron, iron must be present. In order for the Word of God to sharpen or improve a person there has to already be some Word in the person being sharpened (strengthened). Sometimes dear brother and sister we are speaking the Word but the brother or sister (or sinner) we are talking to have no Word to sharpen. Be led of the Spirit. Getting and keeping the Word of God is our responsibility not God’s, then and only then can the retained Word be sharpened or brought into clearer focus. It is difficult to have faith in a Word we do not understand and impossible to have faith in Words we have not received and kept (guarded).
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
