GODLY LOVE IS OF THE WILL NOT THE EMOTIONS

Today is installment fifteen of our study of my book titled “Awake, Arise, and Triumph – Be Love”. This study is not about love as the world or even much of the Church defines or fails to define it. The love we are talking about is Divine love, of Divine origin and resident in the spirit of the born-again Christian. This love, like the other fruits of our spirit, are in an infant stage and must be developed by our will. Although these fruit are in an infant stage, they are the same as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are and express. They are love and express love and so do we. This is true for all of the fruit.
This Divine love (agapē/agapaō) is at its core obedience to Scripture; it is selfless in motive and walks cognizant of Blood Covenant with the Father. I briefly discussed eight different Greek words translated to English as love but are not the love we are talking about and developing in our lives. Absent an understanding of this love, we cannot love God as He loves us, we can’t love our neighbor in a Scriptural way, nor can we love ourselves.
This love (agapē/agapaō) is based on and subject to the Blood Covenant that started in Genesis and is eternal because of Calvary. The behavior, the actions, and the words of the loved person are not to have an effect on our being and expressing this love. In a phrase, this love involves strict adherence to Scripture, selfless attitudes and actions, and a constant mindfulness of the obligations of our Blood Covenant with the Father through Christ. There is no covenant stronger than a Blood Covenant. I capitalize Blood Covenant because one party to the covenant is God. You will quickly see that the definition of love which God gave me some years ago (quoted below) and the elements or articles of the Blood Covenant are consistent with one another.
“Love is a deep and constant interest in a person. It is a function of the will. It is right (righteous – Biblical) and reflects or is born of the blood covenant. This love is not dependent on the recipient in any way but is solely dependent on the giver.”
A three-legged chair (obedience, selflessness, Blood Covenant) is far more stable than a one or two-legged chair but all three require diligence to maintain balance. Diligence is required in thought, words, and actions concerning God and those about us.
At this time let’s examine the elements or articles of the Blood Covenant we entered at salvation. This section of the book contains a brief teaching concerning Blood Covenant, but I think it will be adequate for the purposes of this book. Agapē/agapaō, the God originating love is covenant love, specifically Blood Covenant love. Love will bring about the performance of the Blood Covenant which is sealed by the sinless blood of Jesus. As we study these points you will notice that I have made a few comments on the application of Blood Covenant to marriage between a birth male and a birth female. It is pitiful that I have to make that clarification. If all married couples (birth male and birth female) followed after agapē/agapaō and the terms of Blood Covenant divorce would be very rare. All ten points I will share concerning Blood Covenant apply to our Blood Covenant with God but also to the Marriage Covenant and other Contracts. These ten points were abstracted from E. W. Kenyon’s book titled, “The Blood Covenant” and these points are fully supported by Scripture.
- In a blood covenant, a weaker party covenants with a stronger and that is certainly the case with us and God (Matthew 26:28). Generally, in a marriage the man is physically and perhaps in other ways like financially the stronger party (1 Peter 3:7).

Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
