WHAT ABOUT THE WORK OF THE MINISTRY?

Greetings dear saints of God and others and welcome to a brief new teaching on the condition of the Church. I first taught on this topic on the 10^th of September 2021. God has kept it in my thinking and recently quickened me to teach it again. I see this all around me as I observe the body of Church through the lens of Scripture. The following is in part from the 2021 teaching.

In September 2021 the Lord has pointed out to me four basic aspects of what we call Church. These are the social activities, playground activities, classroom work, and the work of the Kingdom by the body of Christ individually and corporately. The body of Christ among each other, in small groups, and in local Church gatherings pretty well has the social part down pat. This would include the dinners, met and greet activities before and after “church” and so on. These things are not wrong however they are not the central purpose of the saints (and others) gathering in the local Church or other settings.

Playground activities include the song service and are most apparent in Pentecostal gatherings. Is the graphic used for this teaching at concert or Church service? The song service, the period of time by tradition, not Scripture, has erroneously come to be called praise and worship. Many times, praise is involved which is declaring Who He is often with thanksgiving with the song. This is not worship. Many times, the playground activities continue during alter calls. By the way, do you have any Scripture for altar calls? Although these are fun activities for the participants, sometimes the observer, but they can also be very distracting and confusing. For the most part these playground activities do not advance the Kingdom of God.

I am not talking about people we are at the altar getting saved or those who came to repent and change their thoughts, words, and direction concerning the sin. I am talking about the people who are running, jumping, falling out in the Spirit, and hollering in their seat or at the altar because that is what we do in our denomination. Having said this, important things can happen in people lives for now and eternity in these social happenings or even playground (this is how our flesh acts in our Church) activities. The important thing is to distinguish acts of the flesh and acts of the Spirit of God in and through people.

School would include but is not limited to time in Bible Study at home, other formal and informal settings, as well as Sermons in the local Church or one line as well as teaching like this in the various formats. How many of us go home and study the material

Acts 17:10-11 (ESV)

10 The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived they went into the Jewish synagogue.

11 Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

How many of us couldn’t tell someone what the sermon was about by the time we got to the car after leaving the building? If we are not doing these thing than what is the probability that the material imparted is going to bring any transformation in us?

Romans 12:1-2 (ESV)

1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

The purpose of the Word is to cleanse us and transform us more and more into His image.

Ephesians 5:26-27 (KJV)

26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

How in the world are we going to do the work of the Kingdom, do what He did, and the greater works if we are nothing like Him? The fourth aspect is the actual work of the Kingdom of God. The work of the Kingdom of God is doing the works Jesus did and doing the greater works.

Ephesians 4:10-15 (ESV)

10 He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)

11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers,

12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,

13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,

14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.

15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,

Body of Christ Awake, Arise, and Triumph and be the generation that brings revival through repentance which becomes and awakening in the communities around us, and Christians dominate the Seven Pillars of Society. This will usher in the final great harvest and the return of Christ!

TAKE HOME:

Are your social activities not only fun but strengthen relationships, edifying you and the Lord?
What about the playground activities?
What about the preaching/teaching at your gatherings, are they a spectator show or imparting information to live by? Do you value the Word of God?
Finally, are you doing the work of the Ministry?
