THE COMFORTER OR A TORMENTOR – WE CHOSE
Monday – December 16, 2019, Kislev 18,5780

Greetings precious saints of God and welcome back to another week of this powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. Before we start meditate on and be encouraged by the following Scripture.
1 Peter 2:9 (AMP)
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
We are a chosen people and are unlike any before us, currently existing, or to come! We are priests and kings before our God and in the family of God. We are a special people, God is calling us special, and has given for us to do wonderful deeds and shine His marvelous light in all places. The featured picture today is from the drive through the animal park in San Antonio. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment to hit the “love” and “share” buttons to encourage us and expand the reach of this ministry. Now, let’s turn to our primary Bible text and read it aloud.
John 14:15-21 (KJV)
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Today I will pick up again with what Jesus had to say about the Comforter. As you can see by the title, thinking about your life, and reading the Bible we have a choice between having the work of the Comforter in our lives or a tormentor. Now is anyone confused about which one is the wise choice? I suspect 100% of you said that the Comforter is the wise choice. Then let me ask, why is there so much tormenting in the world and in the body of Christ? Short answer, we are following after the flesh and not after the Spirit (who is the Comforter) thus inviting the tormentor into our lives. Consider, meditate upon, the following verses.
Romans 8:13 (KJV)
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Galatians 6:8 (KJV)
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
The devil(s) will come and tell you that you just can’t be in Church all the time and do this holy thing all the time, it just isn’t possible. That is a lie. I am not talking about being literally in Church but living like we do in Church, by faith, in love (agape), and being led of the Spirit. You have not had fun until you fully throw your life on God! Leaving the ways of the world and keeping oneself (yes, it is our responsibility) in the Spirit is so satisfying. Perhaps you are wondering what this has to do with our text and why I can’t or won’t stay on track. I am on track, the Holy Spirit track.
Glance back to the Romans 8:13 Scripture and notice the stark contrast of flesh and death verses Spirit and life. I hope this is not a real hard distinction or choice. God has set before us death and life and in Deuteronomy 30:19 He even gives us the right answer which is life. Dear saints, there is no middle ground and there is no mixing that results in life. This is not talking just about physical life as in this body living or dying. This verse is talking about a life of perishing, stealing, killing, and destroying. The result of giving to the flesh or following after the flesh, opens the door to the thief, to the destroyer in our lives. On the other hand, being led or following after the Spirit gives us life as God knows it, a life of abundance. Really saints, is this so hard? I will close out with a thought concerning Galatians 6:8. If sowing to the Spirit reaps life everlasting what does sowing to the flesh reap? Sowing to the Spirit reaps life as God knows life forever. Sowing to the flesh reaps life as the devil knows life forever. Have you read about the ultimate outcome of the devil? Choose obedience to the Scripture with a willing heart and reap the work of the Comforter in our lives. Choose disobedience to the Scripture and reap the work of the tormentor in our lives.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
