CALL THINGS WHICH BE NOT AS THOUGH THEY ARE

Greetings dear brothers and sisters in Christ, and welcome to this ongoing study of “Father Abraham”. We will be reviewing Abraham’s life for it is encouraging for us all to see how God can and does flow in and through imperfect people to accomplish His will. Abrahams life was pivotal to the redemption account and the restitution of all things. I started this series of teachings showing the glorious end result then we went to the beginning to see the sausage be made. Now, let’s continue examining Abram then Abraham’s journey with the Lord to the fulfillment of the most important promise ever, the birth of a promised child to the birth of the Promised Child.
Before jumping into today’s study, the Lord has quickened my mind to something that was left out of a previous teaching.
Genesis 15:9 (KJV)
9 And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.
You will recall that these animals, birds, shed surrogate blood for God. This was in effect a sin offering, a Day of Atonement, prior to Moses codifying the Law in Leviticus 16 and 23. One has to be pure, set apart unto God, in order to be in Blood Covenant with God. Today we enter by the Blood of Jesus.
Genesis 15:17 (KJV)
17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.
I believe the Lord wanted me to review this verse once again and amplify it just a bit. It is God the Father who is making Blood Covenant with Abram. I pointed out that the Holy Spirit was there as the smoking furnace and Jesus is there as the burning lamp. All three persons are entering this Blood Covenant. Jesus is the Promised One and therefore a part of this Blood Covenant. You may remember in Hebrews 9:14 we are told that Jesus was enabled by the Eternal Spirit which is the Holy Spirit.

14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Four persons entered this Blood Covenant which is irrevocable.
Thirteen years have passed since the Hagar experiment and finally God speaks to Abram once again. By the way this attempt to help God put mankind on a whole different trajectory.
Genesis 17:1-5 (KJV)
1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
Notice in verse four God says “thou shalt be a father of many nations” but in verse five God says, “a father of many nations have I made thee”. God went from future tense to present tense. God, the Father, reminds Abram soon be to Abraham, that they are in Covenant, Blood Covenant. God was calling things were not yet present in the physical realm, but present in the Spiritual, as though it did exist already in the physical. With the name change Abraham would be doing the same thing. Abram means exalted father, but Abraham means the father of many nations. You see the Words of God that Abraham received, believed and acted upon to please God (faith) would soon bring the unseen into the seen. Works the same way today, God does not change.
God changed Abram’s identity, how he saw himself. Our identity has been changed, we are in Christ Jesus, indwelled by the Holy Spirit who has all power and all knowledge, and we are sons of God. Do you believe it? Do you act like it? I’m not talking about arrogance but confidence and love. Before concluding let’s read this text from Romans telling us that our Heavenly Father calls things that be not as though they are, so did Abraham the father of us all, and so must we.
Romans 4:16-18 (KJV)
16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
TAKE HOME:
- Four persons entered a Blood Covenant now billions have joined that Covenant.
- We have had a name change, a change of Kingdom, a change of Father, a change of destiny, a change of assignments and are in Christ.
- Call those things that be not as though they are.
As the Lord wills, I will return tomorrow with fresh revelation. The Lord bless and keep you and yours. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
