THE DEAL IS SEALED

Greetings dear brothers and sisters in Christ, and welcome to this ongoing study of “Father Abraham”. We will be reviewing Abraham’s life for it is encouraging for us all to see how God can and does flow in and through imperfect people to accomplish His will. Abrahams life was pivotal to the redemption account and the restitution of all things. I started this series of teachings showing the glorious end result then we went to the beginning to see the sausage be made. Now, let’s continue examining Abraham’s journey. The promised child has come, and Abraham (and Isaac) have passed a brutal testing of the Blood Covenant forged between the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, and Abraham. The Father asked Abraham to sacrifice his son of promise Isaac for Him, for God, and he did. Now by the Law of Reciprocity the Father (and Jesus) is obligated to sacrifice His Son Jesus for mankind. The story continues.
Genesis 22:12-14 (KJV)
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
You will recall that the angel of the Lord is speaking to Abraham on the earth from Heaven. Some have speculated that this angel was Jesus the second person of God. I will leave the text as it is the angel of the Lord. This angel instructs Abraham not to hurt the lad because he can see that Abraham truly fears or honors the Lord and withholds nothing from Him. At that moment Abraham see a ram (male lamb) caught in a thicket by its horn. This horn is a shofar or trumpet which is used to announce the advent of something or someone. Guess who? The Messiah, the Lamb of God! Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah Jireh which means Jehovah will see (to it), Jehovah-Jireh, a symbolical name for Mt. Moriah according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Now, let’s move forward.
Genesis 22:15-19 (KJV)
15 And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
19 So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.
Now the angel of the Lord calls Abraham a second time from Heaven. He reiterates what was said first, the Lord swears or makes an oath because Abraham did not withhold his son, his only son. This oath starts off a bit like Genesis chapter twelve. I want to point out that the word “seed” in verses seventeen and eighteen is masculine in gender and singular in number referring to the coming Christ, the Messiah.
Galatians 3:16 (KJV)
16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
Christ is multiplied by us, Christians. We are the stars of Heaven giving light on the earth both in the day (Church) and the night (world). The seventeenth (number of victory) goes on to say that Jesus, the Messiah will possess the gate of his enemies. Reminds us of the following verse.
Genesis 3:15 (KJV)
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Then in verse eighteen the promise of Genesis 12:3 is repeated as completed. In Christ Jesus all who choose are indeed blessed. From Mount Moriah Abraham then goes to Beersheba. Beersheba means well of an oath according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.
TAKE HOME:
- Absolute obedience and fidelity to the Blood Covenant brings success without limit.
- Because of the Seed all peoples of the earth are blessed if they choose the Seed.
- Victory has come and He and we possess the gates of our enemies.
As the Lord wills, I will return tomorrow with fresh revelation. The Lord bless and keep you and yours. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
