THE GREATER THINGS – PART FIVE

Glory to God in the highest, rejoice for His mercy and loving kindness endures forever! Greetings dear friends and Ministry Partners and welcome back to this engaging and life changing Bible Study. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to expand the reach of this Ministry and the reach of the Truth. We are not the only source of Truth but we are one source of Truth the Lord is using for His glory. If you have been following this blog, the ministry in general consider becoming a financial partner with us. Now, let’s turn our attention to our study of “The Greater Things”. First let’s take a brief look at the works Jesus did and we are to be doing, not just preachers but anyone who believes.
Isaiah 61:1-2 (AMP)
1 THE SPIRIT of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to preach the Gospel of good tidings to the meek, the poor, and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up and heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the [physical and spiritual] captives and the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound,
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord [the year of His favor] and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,
Be aware that all of these things (works), both the works Jesus did which we are to be doing also and the greater works requires the Anointing, the Spirit of the Lord God. Jesus was adamant with the disciples that they do nothing until they were endued with Power from on High.
Luke 24:49 (KJV)
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
The following passage gives a little more definition for Jesus’ instruction to them and us.
Mark 16:17-20 (KJV)
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
Believers spoke the Word of God and God confirmed His Word with signs following. Why is that not the case today? Just like Isaiah sixty-one these (Mark) are signs that are to follow believers not just a few “special” people. Notice the phrase “they shall speak with new tongues”. The speaking “with new tongues” is evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit which imparts the Power of God. Doing the works Jesus did, the greater works, and being baptized in the Holy Spirit is a command and it is essential, central, to doing the things Jesus did and the greater things. When this is not seen in a Church, a Ministry, and an individual believer’s life it is due to unbelief. It is our mandate, our command, from the Head of the Church to do these things. Forget the programs and methods and do these things! Now, back to Isaiah sixty-one.
Isaiah 61:1 (AMP)
1 THE SPIRIT of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to preach the Gospel of good tidings to the meek, the poor, and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up and heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the [physical and spiritual] captives and the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound,
Notice that with the Anointing comes the qualification to do these things even though we may feel (and in fact are in ourselves) inadequate to the task. You may have heard the saying, “whoever God calls He qualifies”. He does not look at our qualifications first but for a willing quick to do it heart. As we examine our hearts today, do we find ourselves willing to respond rapidly to the leadership of the Word, the Holy Spirit or would we rather He didn’t upset our apple cart?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Sunday.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
