BELIEVE ON JESUS

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. Please take a moment to share this teaching as widely as possible to expand the reach of the Truth. God is so good to give us His Truth, the only Truth, there is no other Truth. The featured picture today is of Donna and me at Smalls’ Falls doing selfies. We had hoped to have visited wonderful friends in Tennessee by now and even be headed to Texas later this year but the Holy Spirit has not given us the go ahead for any of that travel. It is not that we are afraid of COVID-19 but we are listening to the Holy Spirit. It is our duty to obey the authorities who are protecting our health, we honor (value) others, we wear our masks to avoid being an offense, and love our fellow man. Now, let’s turn our attention to our Bible Study and read the primary Bible text aloud, yes, out loud.
John 17:17-21 (KJV)
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
As we enter into verse twenty (the number of redemption) Jesus explicitly tells the Father He is not only talking about the disciples with Him that day but all who would believe on Him because of their testimony. Jesus is interceding for those present and all who believe on Him who were to follow. Don’t you know that the Father heard that prayer and we are beneficiaries to this day. It is the will of God that all persons choose to believe upon Jesus therefore this prayer was according to the will of God and was heard.
1 John 5:14-15 (KJV)
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
The word “heareth” is a legal term indicating proper standing to have our petition heard and the main qualification for proper standing is asking according to the will of God.
2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Looking back at our text and the word “word” at the end of the twentieth verse we find this is the transliterated Greek to English word logos. Not all words are the same. There are dead words and living words, this is a living word that Jesus is talking about. The source of all life is God, the Holy Spirit, so Anointed Words. When we speak according to the leadership of the Holy Spirit our words will be logos or anointed living words and will accomplish that for which they were sent. We don’t want to just be spouting off and our words returning void, these are idle words and for those we will give an account one day.
Matthew 12:35-37 (KJV)
35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. (Bold added)
37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Yes, a Christian can have evil treasure. Dear brother and sister I don’t think we really have any idea how careful we need to be with our thought life and our speech. These together are our life. In this way we choose death or life and bring one or the other into our lives. Unfortunately, we tend to speak a mixture of death and life and that tends to death, tends to stealing, killing, and destroying in our lives. How much sin is alright with God? How much sin does it take to influence our whole lives?
Galatians 5:7-9 (MSG)
7 You were running superbly! Who cut in on you, deflecting you from the true course of obedience?
8 This detour doesn’t come from the One who called you into the race in the first place.
9 And please don’t toss this off as insignificant. It only takes a minute amount of yeast, you know, to permeate an entire loaf of bread.
Yeast is symbolic of sin, words not of God, contrary to Scripture are sin, are yeast or leaven. What kind of life should we live? Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
