A SWORD IS DRAWN

Greetings dear and precious saints of God, friends and partners. Those of you who are friends and believe the Lord is calling you to be partners with us financially, we invite you as well. This Ministry is growing and you can be a vital part of that growth to bring the good news, the Truth to the lost and to our brothers and sisters in darkness. Your seed sown into this Ministry will not just increase our capacity but if sown in faith, in love, led of the Holy Spirit it will bring a great harvest into your life. The featured picture today is from our personal and ministry friend, Joe Getchell Jr. Fall is so beautiful here in Maine. Don’t forget the Wednesday evening Bible Study on Zoom at 6 pm eastern time. If you don’t have the meeting id and password please contact me.
What was preached at our Churches yesterday, victory or defeat? Are we being told to trust God and His Prophets?
2 Chronicles 20:20 (KJV)
… Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Are we told to be still or fear? Psalm 46:10 (KJV) 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 83:1 (KJV) Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
Are we told to change our confession or keep it the same? Romans 4:17-21 (KJV)
17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. 18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: 20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
Before we dive into our Bible Study of the Book of John, I believe the Lord would have me share the following verse with you.
Hosea 4:6 (KJV)
6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
There is a false assumption that where ever one might attend Church that only the Truth is being declared. That is far from the truth for in many places the traditions of men and the doctrines of demons are taught as the Truth. The people teaching these things may be very sincere, unaware they are teaching and preaching a lie but none the less it is a lie. We see people of God all around us, perhaps even you, being destroyed financially, physically, and relationally. Why? A lack of the knowledge (of God) which never has a good outcome. There is no love of God without the progressive gaining of the knowledge of God.
God through the Prophet Hosea tells us that at least one reason for His people being destroyed is that they are rejecting knowledge (of Him). So, we have to ask ourselves, is the knowledge I have, and am receiving the Truth or a lie. Sounding good and sounding right is not a true measure. What the Lord goes on to say is that we are rejecting the true knowledge of Him and therefore we are rejected. Do you suppose we should examine ourselves? I know we all would like to hear something different but the simple truth is that when things are not working in our lives according to Scripture it is not the fault of God or the Scripture. The demons are playing a significant role in instigating and perpetuating the curse in our lives but we are in the middle of it with wrong choices. We make the choices not the demons and not God. When we reject the true knowledge of God not only are we rejected but our priestly (function of intercession) role is rejected, and our children are without hope. Let us repent, examining everyone of our beliefs in humility before God and again walk with Him, gaining knowledge (Truth), being accepted, being a priest before Him, and bringing a fullness of protection around our children.
Now let’s turn our attention to our Bible text in the Book of John and read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 18:8-11 (KJV)
8 Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:
9 That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.
10 Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.
11 Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
As we will recall we are just a few hours, perhaps six, from the Cross and Jesus has surrendered to the mob after demonstrating that He was going to the Cross voluntarily. When Jesus responded that He was the one they were seeking they were all slain (fell out) in the Holy Spirit. In addition, He told them He could call twelve legions of angels. Jesus is talking spiritually and the disciples (Apostles) are speaking naturally. This is an all to often occurrence. Are we doing the same thing? Do not get me wrong, there is always a physical response but it should always follow the spiritual response. From our text we see Peter jumping into action. Fortunately, the Apostle Peter is not trained in the use of the sword and only cuts of the ear of Malchus. Let’s see what Dr. Luke has to say about this incident.
Luke 22:49-51 (KJV)
49 When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?
50 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.
Initially the eleven Apostles asked the Lord if they should “smite with the sword” but Peter without an answer took the initiative and goes into action.
Luke 22:51 (NLT)
51 But Jesus said, “No more of this.” And he touched the man’s ear and heal
Jesus rebuked Peter and the others then restored Malchus’ ear. Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
