Praise the Lord for Wednesdays and praise the Lord for camels. Greetings from The Three Minute Word, a publication of Eastern Gate Ministries International Inc. Oh, what a day in which we live, the opportunities of the Kingdom are without measure.
Ephesians 2:5-7 (KJV)
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
Our text goes on to use the phrase “ages to come”. First glance without any evaluation of the meaning of the Greek text would seem to indicate that Paul is talking about perhaps a series of ages or time periods in the future. There may well be time periods of variable lengths in the future however our text is telling us that this is a forever time period. Our Heavenly Father is not just going to brag on us, show us off, for a few thousand or even a few million years but forever. This begs the question, to whom is showing us off too? We tend to be focused on ‘me’ what about me? There was no one before me and surely there will be no one after me. God didn’t create anything before what I know and He surely isn’t going to be creating after this. God is forever, what do you think the chances are that He never created anything in the eons past and He will forgo creating anything in the eon’s future? I think the chances are zero. Now as to the nature of those creations I do not know but the options for God in the past and the future after Revelation 22:21 are infinite.
Let me stimulate your mind with the question; what do you think was going on before Genesis 1:1? What do you think happened between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2 other than a catastrophic event described by Genesis 1:2 and Jeremiah 4:23-27.
Jeremiah 4:23-27 (KJV)
23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.
24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.
27 For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.
Jeremiah 4:23 is where we find ourselves in Genesis 1:2.
Genesis 1:2 (KJV)
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
In Jeremiah 4:27 God said He would not make a full end of that creation and He did not and in the fullness of time we find God ready to create again and this time bring a family into the earth. God showed Jeremiah that the heavens had no light, a prior civilization of some sort was in near total destruction. But then God said!
Genesis 1:3 (KJV)
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
This is not spiritual light coming into the earth this is the capacity for physical light, photons, being created. Later on the fourth day God will make the energy source for the photons.
Genesis 1:14-16 (KJV)
14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
There are photons all around us, but there is no light in the room until the energy source is activated. Think about it, our God is a good God and all that has transpired before Genesis 1:2 and all that will transpire after Revelation 22:21 will be aligned with our good God. Many people who talk about going to Heaven and Heaven itself seem to have a picture sort of like going to Disney Land. We seem to have this picture of a static life and really a picture of luxury associated with laziness and no purpose. Is this the God you know?
