Now, let’s turn to our primary Bible Text to continue this powerful study of the Book of John. Read it aloud.
John 8:23-27 (KJV)
23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.
26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.
27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
As we pick up in verse twenty-four, we find Jesus telling them yet again they will die in their sins if they do not believe He is the Messiah, the One sent of the Father. Persons who are saved or born again are not sinners but saints. The sacrifice of Jesus on Calvary and what He accomplished took away all but one sin as the determining factor for entry into the Kingdom of God, Bosom of Abraham prior to the Resurrection, and Heaven after the Resurrection. Jesus is talking to them and to us about that one sin, and that is not believing upon Him as Savior. That is not to say that our various sins will not be judged for both saint and sinner. The sinner at the great White Throne Judgment will be judged for their works in the flesh. They are not there to determine if they are going to Hell, they already selected Hell by the rejection of Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior. The same is true of the saint appearing at the Judgment Seat of Christ. The saint is already in Heaven having believed on Jesus but what they did in the flesh is being judged and they receive gain or loss.
These scribes and pharisees that are confronting Jesus wanting to kill Him are as bewildered as a calf at a new gate or geese in a hail storm. There knowledge, ideas of God is so corrupted that they do not know God and therefore cannot recognize good solid doctrine when they hear it. The same is going on today in the Church. He has been telling them exactly who He is, the Son of God, the Messiah for quite some time but they do not believe. They cannot believe for their spiritual knowledge base is so corrupted they do not know God nor the Word of God in its pure form. Can you imagine what will be accomplished with a corrupted data base? The product, whatever it is, will be corrupted yielding stealing, killing, and destroying not the abundance Jesus came and died for. As we move forward let’s review the twenty-sixth verse again.
John 8:26 (KJV)
26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.
Jesus is telling them that there are many things He could tell them but the Father has not released Him to say those things, only the things He hears the Father say. Notice Jesus says these things are the things He is speaking to the world. These scribes and pharisees do not consider themselves to be of the world but these words are from Jesus mouth to our ears. I wonder about some of the spiritual leaders today if they are aware, they are a part of the world and not the Kingdom of God. When a corrupted gospel is spoken, preached, taught, it is of the world, not of God, tickling the ear of the hearer leaving them comfortable in their sin. We never want to be left comfortable in our sin! We need to pursue God with all of our hearts asking Him to teach us and convict us of sin and the roots in our mind that lead to sin. Sin and the very roots of sin, separate us from the fullness of the Kingdom. When the Word is uncorrupted it brings the Power of God to the world and the Kingdom of God alike. Are we speaking to the world only the things we have heard of him (the Father)?
As I finish for today and the week on the Book of John let’s consider the meaning of the word “judge” in our text. According to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – New Testament the Greek word transliterated to English as ‘judge’ means to separate, distinguish, discriminate between good and evil, select, choose out the good. In the NT, it means to judge, to form or give an opinion after separating and considering the particulars of a case. Notice that this word ‘judge’ does not confer the passing of judgment which is to say prescribing an outcome of the thoughts, words, or behaviors. It is simply to distinguish between good and evil. We are to being doing this all the time, yes, literally all the time, especially with regard to ourselves. We can judge whether the activity of our neighbor be good or bad but we are to keep our mouths shut unless the Father’s says to speak. We are not Holy Ghost junior!
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
