BORN BLIND
Tuesday – April 30, 2019, Nisan 25,5779
Greetings dear partners and friends of Eastern Gate Ministries International, Inc., and The Three Minute Word publication. As you may know I am doing a verse by verse through the Book of John. A beautiful white dove in midflight, how beautiful, reminding us of the Holy Spirit that descended upon Jesus that day in the Jordan River. Now let’s go to our primary Bible test reading it aloud.
John 9:1-5 (KJV)
1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
We now come to a very interesting passage of Scripture of which I have only shown in part due to space, length. In this Bible account during the ministry of Jesus we find Jesus walking by a man blind from birth. On a broader scope each of us were blind spiritually from our physical conception until we were born again, received Jesus as Lord, and as Savior. In an instant of time life and light flowed in abundance into our spirit man and a lesser degree our soul. From the narrative we don’t know if the man was born blind due to a birth defect or became blind at birth due to an infection or other trauma. We do know that blindness is of the curse, it is never of God, and it is never the will of God at any time under any circumstance for a person to be physically or spiritually blind. The curse came into the earth with sin as we see in Chapter three of Genesis following verse six. In addition, read Deuteronomy twenty-eight closely and you will see that all varieties of the curse come into our lives when we turn aside from the Word of God. Let us meditate the following passages and see what we must do.
Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (KJV)
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
Deuteronomy 28:14-15 (KJV)
14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
Has anyone had difficulty concluding which passage you want applying to you and your family? Are we able to see the cure to the curse in our lives? Are we willfully ignorant or rebellious? As we follow our text along, we see the disciples asking Jesus who sinned, was it the man or the parents. Seems like on the face of it we can rule out a sin by the man since he was born this way. That would have required intrauterine sin, which is silly as well. In verse three the response of Jesus does not rule out sin as the cause of this disease but does tell us it was not a specific sin of the parents. The curse is present in the earth and can affect anyone and everyone if the prince of this world (John 14:30) has anything in us. In other words, are we following after Deuteronomy 28:14-15 or Deuteronomy 28:1-2 or some mixture of the two? You probably know that mixing righteousness and wickedness did not work out well for Adam and Eve and it won’t work out well for us either. Most translations make it look like this man was born blind so that God could heal him. You probably have heard this line of thinking somewhere along the way and it is demonic. Our God is nothing but good, period! He does not put us in financial straits, illness of any kind so He can demonstrate He can heal. That is like one of us on purpose making one of our kids sick so that we can then show we can make them well. Even the secular world knows that is not right and will throw your little butt in jail for that behavior. Having said all of that, this man is about to have a manifestation of the works of God in his life. Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
