ARE YOU A HYPOCRITE WHEN YOU CALL HIM LORD?

Greetings to one and all and welcome to this teaching on “WHOSE THOUGHTS”. What about this? Are our thoughts our secrets forever? And whose thoughts are we thinking? Are we thinking the thoughts of our own understanding, the voice of other people’s reasonings plus or minus Godly or demonic influence, demonic voices, or the voice of God? There is someone who is talking to us all the time. We call this our thought life. Are thoughts harmless? By the way our thoughts are not a secret from God and our thoughts produce fruit. Our thoughts may be a secret for a season from other people and the demons, that is until our words and actions betray our thoughts and the fruit manifests, the harvest comes.
We are thinking about something all the time, even in our sleep. We are receiving input to our thought life all day through music, radio, TV, conversations, books, articles of all types (audio, kindle, paper, etc.). Our thoughts can be Godly, neutral, or devilish. Godly thoughts are those in line with Scripture. Neutral thoughts are things like thinking about our grocery list, a task at work and so on. Devilish thoughts are any and all thoughts contrary to Scripture. Yesterday we examined the admonition of Jesus to take heed to what we hear and before that how we hear. All seed (words) bring a harvest. What seeds are you, am I, sowing. As our primary text let’s listen to the Master. I will intersperse insights as I proceed through the passage.
Luke 6:44-49 (KJV)
44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
Insight: Do we know and do we believe that our life is the fruit or harvest of our thought life? Well, it is whether we like it or not, it is a spiritual Law of the Kingdom, we saw that yesterday. If you say you’re a fig tree but your life is full of thorns everyone should know you are a thorn bush. What do we know if a person is poor (doesn’t have enough, has just enough, is lacking overflowing abundance)? We know that what they really believe is the poverty and lack of Satan and not the abundance of God. By the way, the so called “prosperity teachers/preachers” by the unbelieving world and much of the Church is a misnomer, they are Bible teachers, teachers of the Truth.
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
Insight: The treasure of our hearts, mind, thought life is those things we have heard and have kept in our thought life be it good or bad. The man who has good thoughts will bring forth not just what is good in speech, but what is good in his/her life which will overflow into the life of others. On the other hand, the evil man with evil treasure (thought life) will bring forth evil (thorns, bramble). Now these are not two different people, and the good man is not a Christian and the evil man a heathen. A Christian can be an evil man due to the thought life.
46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Insight: This is a sobering verse. I think many Christians if not most would say they are doing what Jesus says. Generally, that would boil down to the sinners prayer and perhaps being baptized in the Holy Spirit. As you know. Those of you who follow this Ministry with ears to hear know that our walk with the Lord and our responsibilities in the Kingdom of God extend far beyond those two things. The word Lord from the Greek is kyrios meaning the One who is supreme in authority according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. He does not make us do anything but His words, His commands, are final eternal authority. He speaks various things through His Word (Bible) but we do something different which is disobedience, sin. We will get a harvest of sin.
47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
Insight: I can’t speak for you, but this is the man I want to be and strive to be everyday all day. Did you notice the three qualifiers? We are to remain present with Him, we are to hear His sayings with ears to hear, and we are to do what He says. When that is the case, we get the outcome of verse forty-eight when a storm comes and they do come. Are you digging deep into the Word making it your foundation not the sayings of man. Do you have deep roots? Notice the storm never got into the house. The house was not even shaken. Reminds me of the following verse.
Jeremiah 17:8 (AMP)
8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river; and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit.
49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
Insight: Is this your house, I sure do not want it to be my house. When the enemy came it didn’t take long and his life was in ruin. Why? He did not have the Word of God as his foundation. Back to Jeremiah.
Jeremiah 17:5-6 (KJV)
5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
What is in your thought life and your mouth that you believe, of which you are fully persuaded? Is your trust and hope in God, the Word of God or is it in man. What is your first thought, words, and reaction to adverse situations?
TAKE HOME:
- Let’s not just be inspectors of other peoples fruit but examine our own and make the necessary adjustments for a different or improved harvest.
- Is Jesus truly our Lord and we are doing all we know to do?
- Do you have deep roots in the Word of God and are not shaken when the storm comes, in fact you don’t even notice most storms.
As the Lord wills, I will resume this teaching right here tomorrow. The Lord bless and keep you and yours. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
