FISH LAID UPON

Greetings and welcome to this Bible teaching dear and precious saints of the only Living God and non-saints serving the god of this world. Donna and I have just returned from a wonderful and successful three weeks in San Antonio Texas. I had a very successful total left hip replacement on the first of April. We had wonderful fellowship with our family and friends. We were privileged to fellowship and worship with Pastors Bruce and Sherry Gunkle as well as the (our) Church family at City of Refuge. This is my first day (19th April) back to writing (other than the Prophets Chamber) in three weeks and it seems that I am bursting at the seams. Please take a moment right now to share this Bible teaching as widely as possible. I don’t know that we, the redeemed, fully comprehend just how good this gospel (not just my writings but the whole of Scripture) really is. However wonderful and glorious the fullness of this salvation may be now and in that which is to come, the failure to receive this salvation so freely given at great price leads to an indescribably awful hereafter.
Before we delve into our Scripture today from the wonderful Bible Book of John, I want to share a little something about prayer. Have you ever been in a small or large group and there was a call to prayer? When the person who called for the prayer started to pray everyone else also started praying out loud in their known or unknown tongue? Is there a Bible model, an example of this in Scripture? Please let me know if you have some Scripture for this model. I find this to be confusing, leading to a loss of focus, and possibly leading to a lack of agreement. It seems to me that the Scriptural way would be for the one calling for prayer to speak as led of the Lord while the others listen and add their agreement, approval, at the end. If multiple people are to pray, it should be sequential so as to eliminate confusion and provide order, and opportunity for agreement with knowledge. Consider the following Scriptures.
Matthew 18:19 (KJV)
19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
How can two or more people be in agreement if they are praying at the same time, independently? At the time the Lord brought these thoughts to my mind He linked it with the Apostle Paul’s discussion of everyone speaking in tongues in the Church. It leads to confusion for the unlearned, likewise two people cannot be praying simultaneously aloud, understand each other, and then come into agreement with understanding.
1 Corinthians 14:16 (KJV)
16 Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?
Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of John and read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 21:9-11 (KJV)
9 As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.
10 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.
11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.
As you will recall their Savior and ours has arisen from the dead and is now appearing to those disciples for the third time. The physical or natural aspects of this passage are readily apparent. Jesus was cooking some fish and had bread to go with it. However, the prophetic, spiritual picture is far, far more. I spoke at some length last week how the “fire of coals” was a picture of the redemption process through Christ bringing our cleansing. This is magnificently prophesied, illustrated, in the 16th chapter of Leviticus. It will be well worth our time to review this firmly cementing it in our thinking. What about the “fish laid thereon”? This is symbolic of the Old Testament saints now ushered out of the Bosom of Abraham into Heaven by the risen Savior.
Ephesians 4:8-9 (KJV)
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as your Bible Teacher and a Prophetic Voice in your life I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
