HAVING AND DOING THE COMMANDMENTS
Friday – December 20, 2019, Kislev 22, 5780

Greetings precious saints of God and welcome back to another week of this powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. Again, before we start meditate on and be encouraged by the following Scripture.
1 Peter 2:9 (AMP)
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
We are a chosen people and are unlike any before us, currently existing, or to come! We are priests and kings before our God and in the family of God. We are a special people, God is calling us special, and has given for us to do wonderful deeds and shine His marvelous light in all places. The featured picture today is of Donna and me on our wedding day, what a wonderful day that was, our God is so good. To all of you married men out there, do not fail to tell you wife every day that she is a beautiful treasure to you. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment to hit the “love” and “share” buttons to encourage us and expand the reach of this ministry. Now, let’s turn to our primary Bible text and read it aloud.
John 14:15-21 (KJV)
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
As we end another wonderful week, I will skip back to the twenty-first verse. First, we must have His commandments. In order to have His commandments and understand them and implement them according to the will of God we must engage in diligent study.
2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
A certain level of diligence (persistence, carefulness, attentiveness, thoughtfulness, and meticulousness) is required to properly divide the Word of Truth. As I was thinking and studying about this word diligence, I believe the Holy Spirit led me to a couple of things. Diligence is bound up with love which is obedience and coupled to a willing heart leads to plenty. Consider the following two Scriptures from Proverbs then a lengthy passage from second Peter.
Proverbs 13:4 (KJV)
4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
The soul is the mind, will, and emotions of a person. To be made fat is to be made prosperous.
Proverbs 13:4 (TLB)
4 Lazy people want much but get little, while the diligent are prospering.
Also, notice how the diligent think compared with those who are not diligent. This is an eye opener for sure.
Proverbs 21:5 (KJV)
5 The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
The diligent, in Scripture, thinks about plenteousness and are not preoccupied by failure and want. Wow, let’s each of us take a moment and examine where our thoughts and words predominately go. Yes, I am still talking about having the commandments and doing them with a willing heart which is the evidence of our love of God. Now to second Peter.
2 Peter 1:4-7 (KJV)
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
Do not overlook the fact that we are to be partakes of the divine nature not the fallen nature! This is attained in part by diligence. Dear brother and sister, we have some work to do.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
