HEARING, FAITH, DISCIPLINE
Monday – February 3, 2020, Sh’vat 8, 5780
Greetings my dear friends and partners and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog and our intense Bible Study of the Book of John. We pray and ask that you join with us praying that each and every one of these teaching is an Anointed utterance that strengthens and heals each reader who has ears to hear and a heart to receive. The featured picture today is courtesy of Little Moments Photography (our granddaughter). Now let’s turn our attention intently to our primary Bible reference and read it aloud. It is important to read the Word of God aloud and to read it with purpose, with the intent to hear (with spiritual ears not just physical), to receive, to believe, and do all we find therein. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.
Romans 10:17 (KJV)
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
The Word of God is Jesus, He is the Word, the Anointed One. The written Word is not at variance with the Living One, the Christ. Let’s look at this verse in Young’s Literal Translation.
Romans 10:17 (YLT)
17 so then the faith is by a report, and the report through a saying of God,
Whose report do I believe, whose report do you believe? Let us determine with all diligence that we will believe the report of the Lord keeping our eyes straight forward. Hopefully, looking at this from different angles is giving us all greater understanding into the development of faith. Now let’s look at the Holman Christian Standard Bible.
Romans 10:17 (HCSB)
17 So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.
The word “Christ” can be translated as Messiah, Anointed One, and/or the Anointing. The Messiah, the Anointed One is the Word (John 1:1). Faith building comes from hearing the Anointed Word. Incidental or religious hearing of the Word will not build faith. When our utterances and our hearing are Holy Spirit led, they will be Word centered and Anointed. Whatever is going to happen in our lives on a supernatural level will come by faith (our faith), in line with the love (right motivations), and as led of the Holy Spirit. Now, let’s read our text aloud.
John 14:28-31 (KJV)
28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
Last week I spent quite a bit of time on the topic of peace, the peace that Jesus made available to us which is beyond natural human understanding. I also spent time discussing the paramount necessity of disciplining our hearts, our minds. We choose what to think about. We have the capability of examining our thoughts every six seconds and we certainly have the capacity to examine our words before they are released. The question is; are we? Are we on purpose aligning our thoughts, words, and actions (including facial expressions and body language) with the Word of God? If our heart is troubled (agitated) and we are being afraid (timid) that is what we have chosen. We must on purpose put the Word of God far above all and our trust in Him far above all.
Isaiah 26:3-4 (KJV)
3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:
Do we believe this and stand on this solid Rock or is it just something we say when we are with our Christian friends to sound spiritual? Let me tell you dear ones from my experience in the crucible (ordeal, trial, test, affliction, predicament) that one must say this even when we want to say other stuff. We have to in these times discipline our minds to say only what He, the Word, says about the situation, not what the devil says. I will end for today without actually getting to our text but Lord willing I will do so tomorrow.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
