I GO AWAY
Tuesday – February 4, 2020, Sh’vat 9, 5780

Greetings my dear friends and partners and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog and this intense Bible Study of the Book of John. We pray and ask that you join with us praying that each and every one of these teaching is an Anointed utterance that strengthens and heals each reader who has ears to hear and a heart to receive. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment to hit the “love” and “share” buttons to encourage us and expand the reach of this ministry. The featured picture today is courtesy of Little Moments Photography (our granddaughter). Now let’s turn our attention intently to our primary Bible reference and read it aloud.
John 14:28-31 (KJV)
28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
Jesus has been telling His disciples and all who gather to hear Him that He is going to be delivered up and killed and it was for that purpose that He came into the world. Of course, His coming, and taking the penalty of all sin upon Himself dying spiritually and physically is only part of the salvation story. Praise the Lord He rose on the third day, resurrected, and restored as the second person of the co-equal Triune God seated at the right hand of the Father. He took our sin and gave us His righteousness. When the Father raised Jesus from the dead with full restoration to the Throne of Heaven, He was obligated to raise us from the dead with full restoration. As the Apostle Paul says, this corruptible body will be raised incorruptible. We now have the earnest of our salvation (fullness of rescue from wrath and every kind of safety) and the very same Anointing Jesus had in the earth. We must seek to walk in the fullness of our salvation, attaining to do all that Jesus did and the greater things. Anything short of this is a failure to run our course, to fulfill our mission doing all the will of God. I for one do not want to come up short, I don’t want the Lord to have to wipe away many tears from my face.
Jesus is telling the disciples in verse twenty-eight that He is going away and will come again. The word “again” is in italics in the Kings James translation meaning it is not in the manuscripts used. It is not clear if He is referring to the Rapture and Second Coming or to the sending of the Comforter to take His place. What they didn’t know but we now know some 2000 years (two days) later is that these disciples would be long dead before He would come back and would have spent nearly 2000 years in Heaven with Him. Of course, their resurrection of an incorruptible body will occur for them at the same time as it occurs for us. Or could it be that He is talking about returning to them after His resurrection in three days? Let’s look at two other Bible translations for insight.
John 14:28 (PassionNTPsa)
28 “Remember what I’ve told you, that I must go away, but I promise to come back to you. So if you truly love me, you will be glad for me, since I’m returning to my Father, who is greater than I.
John 14:28 (MSG)
28 “You’ve heard me tell you, ‘I’m going away, and I’m coming back.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I’m on my way to the Father because the Father is the goal and purpose of my life.
It seems to me that all three scenarios I shared above are the answer with the predominant answer being the Catching Away (Rapture) of the Church. Associated with the Rapture is the resurrection of the dead bodies of the New Testament saints alive and uncorrupted. Their soul and spirit in Heaven since the death of their physical body will now be joined and will be like Jesus with an incorruptible body and the spirit man joined as one. Those who are alive at His coming will be caught up alive and corruption will put on incorruption.
1 Corinthians 15:51-53 (KJV)
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
Philippians 3:20-21 (KJV)
20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
Oh, dear saints, what a day that will be!
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
