IN MY NAME
Thursday – November 14, 2019, Cheshvan 16, 5780
Greeting wonderfully precious saints of the Most High God. Oh, how good is our God who has redeemed us from the curse and has seated us with Him in Christ Jesus in the Heavenly place. The pictures this week are of various landscapes here in Maine and tomorrow will be of my precious Donna and me. Although we walk by spiritual faith (not seeing physically the desired thing) and not by physical sight, God our Father, has given us the Word of God which is spiritual light (sight) to keep us safe and keep us on His path for us. Storms will come but we must resist them to not let them inside of us bringing fear and torment and finally unbelief. We will feel fear, it is a good warning that the thing is not of God (perhaps allowed by God), but we do not have speak fear or act upon fear. It is our choice! The outcome of letting fear with torment followed closely by unbelief is that we cannot enter Gods’ rest (provision). Now let’s continue our study of the Bible Book of John and let’s read our primary text aloud as we start.
John 14:12-15 (KJV)
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Today I am going to talk about authority and the name, the name of Jesus, the name above every other name. Adams authority came from the Father just like Jesus’, the last Adam. Our authority comes through the One who redeemed us (Jesus). We have been given His name and, in that name, we operate, and exercise authority, just as a married woman exercises authority in her new name (married name). Here is the original delegation of authority to mankind.
Genesis 1:26 (KJV)
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
This authority (dominion) over all the earth was lost when man bowed his knee to Satan and Satan became the god of this world the god of mankind. Listen to what the devil told Jesus in the wilderness and Jesus did not refute.
Luke 4:6 (KJV)
6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
Adam and Eve delivered up “all this power” to Satan. The word “power” in Luke 4:6 is authority. Praise the Lord Jesus got it back and again delegated it to us, gave us His Power of Attorney (we use His name for it is also our name).
Matthew 28:18-20 (KJV)
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
With that name and in that name, we have all authority in Heaven and in earth. Remember we are citizens in Heaven (primary) and in earth (secondary). The reasons Christians are persecuted has to do with the name, there is power in the name, whereas all other names are dead, devoid of supernatural power. Remember the miracle at the gate called Beautiful in Jerusalem.
Acts 3:6 (KJV)
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
You will recall that the man immediately jumped to his feet and leapt and ran about the Temple. The people marveled but Peter reminded them that it was the name, faith in the name of Jesus that made the man whole, strong.
Acts 3:16 (KJV)
16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
The ruling authorities of course got their pants in a twist just as they had earlier with Jesus and their command was to simply quit using the name of Jesus.
Acts 4:17 (KJV)
17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.
They clearly understood that the Power of God flowed as a result of the use of that name, the name of the Redeemer. Faith in that name is key, fundamental, it is how we get saved, how we get healed, and how we do the things He did and the greater things.

Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
