IN THAT DAY

Greeting dear and precious friends and welcome back to this hard-hitting Bible Study of the Book of John. Please take a few moments and share these teachings starting right now to expand your witness and the reach of this Ministry. Thank you for sharing. The featured picture today is provided by a good friend of this Ministry, Joe Getchell Jr. I call this study hard-hitting for I do not hesitate to call out sin or otherwise be clear. Many think that sin is sin but that is not exactly right. All actions contrary to the Word of God have consequences (and so do thoughts, words, and actions in accord with the Word of God). However, actions contrary to the Word of God done in ignorance receive mercy and a space of time to identify the sin and repent. Sin is a violation of light. Light is revealed knowledge, which is revelation of the Word of God. We may have knowledge or information about much in the Word of God but if we have no manifestation, be it good or bad, perhaps we don’t have revelation, we cannot see it regarding ourselves. For example, a person may be aware of 1 Peter 2:24 saying we are already healed but remain sick. They do not see themselves as healed. On the other hand, a person may be doing or saying something that everyone (but them) knows is sin (for the observer) and seemingly getting away with it. Consider the following verse.
James 4:17 (KJV)
17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
What about the one who doesn’t know? Now, lets turn our attention to our primary Bible text and read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 16:23-28 (KJV)
23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.
26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
The Word of God is so wonderful! Our God is so good. If you don’t know my God don’t waste another second, not just to miss Hell, although let me assure you that is a worthy goal, but to taste the goodness of my God. As we study our text, we will remember that Jesus is in the last moments of His earthly ministry and will soon be on the Cross as the song says paying a debt He did not owe. He is telling the disciples that He is about to leave and they will lament but, in the end, they will have great joy, a joy that cannot be stolen by any man. In addition, He is sending the Comforter also called (among many other names) the Spirit of Truth.
It seems to me that there is a massive misunderstanding about the word ‘ask’. If one looks at the root of the Greek words translated as ‘ask’ you will find it means to speak, to desire, and/or seek. It is not begging. Begging does not move the Hand of the Father and neither does need. There is not one example in the Ministry of Jesus where He asked the Father to do something. Now, don’t start with, “but that was Jesus” or “He was operating as God”. He did His work in the earth as a man NOT God and He said we were to do what He did and even greater things. Search the Scriptures dear ones for how the Prophets of old operated (God hasn’t changed) and those recorded in the New Testament. It is always by command. Let me say that again, it is always by command! It is God’s idea not mine; the Bible is full of this Truth. What moves the Hand of God are faith filled words, motivated by love, and led of the Holy Spirit. Then and only then will the Father do the works (supernatural move of God) just as He did in the Ministry of Jesus and the lives of the Prophets (and others). As I close for today let’s meditate these Scriptures from Isaiah, Job, and Mark.
Mark 11:23-24 (KJV)
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Saying and praying and by extension asking are all the same in Scripture. Let’s get our minds renewed, and our mouths in line with the Word of God.
Isaiah 45:11 (KJV)
11 Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.
Yes, we are to command the work of God’s Hands (Holy Spirit, Holy angels) according to the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We have the authority and He has the Power.
Job 22:28 (KJV)
28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
Is decreeing, begging or “asking” in the commonly understood way? Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
