IN THE DAY OF ISRAEL’S FREEDOM

Greetings dear and precious brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus Christ and welcome back to our wonderful and empowering study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means at your disposal. This is vital to this ministry and in all of us obeying the command to take this Word into all the world. Thank you for sharing. The beautiful picture today is a sunset in Pittsfield Maine taken by our good friend and man of God, Joe Getchell Jr. Thank you, Joe, for the pictures and your faithfulness to the Word. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text reading out loud.
Isaiah 27:1-6 (TLB)
1 In that day the Lord will take his terrible, swift sword and punish leviathan, the swiftly moving serpent, the coiling, writhing serpent, the dragon of the sea.
2 In that day [of Israel’s freedom] let this anthem be their song:
3 “Israel is my vineyard; I, the Lord, will tend the fruitful vines; every day I’ll water them, and day and night I’ll watch to keep all enemies away.
4-5 My anger against Israel is gone. If I find thorns and briars bothering her, I will burn them up, unless these enemies of mine surrender and beg for peace and my protection.”
6 The time will come when Israel will take root and bud and blossom and fill the whole earth with her fruit!
As we move forward in this twenty-seventh chapter of Isaiah one might argue (put forth) that the day referred to might actually have started on May 14, 1948 when Israel once again became an independent sovereign nation. The reconstituting of Israel as a nation is certainly a blow to Satan (leviathan) who has been trying to eliminate the Jews from the earth. There will be one more attempt in the Great Tribulation but once again he will not succeed in spite of 2/3 of the Jews being killed. Today, even though they rejected and participated with Rome (Gentiles) in the murder of the Messiah, there is a certain lingering blessing upon that people (they honor the Word of God). As we can see in verses four and five above it is not a good idea to threaten or move against Israel. Yet, many countries, especially Iran (ancient Persia) continually threaten the annihilation of Israel. What do you think the chances are they will be successful?
Currently the exports of fruits to the world are less than 2% of their total exports but the exports (things people want) from Israel, its fruit, does indeed fill the earth. The technology and medical advances that come out of Israel are amazing. Some 20% of Nobel Prizes go to the Jewish people. The Jewish people constitute just 0.19 % (one fifth of one percent) of the world population. If that is not God, the Blessing, I don’t know what is! Now, let’s move ahead in our text.
Isaiah 27:7-10 (TLB)
7 Has God punished Israel as much as he has punished her enemies? No, for he has devastated her enemies,
8 while he has punished Israel but a little, exiling her far from her own land as though blown away in a storm from the east.
9 And why did God do it? It was to purge away her sins, to rid her of all her idol altars and her idols. They will never be worshiped again.
10 Her walled cities will be silent and empty, houses abandoned, streets grown up with grass, cows grazing through the city munching on twigs and branches.
What brought about the punishment of Israel? Disobedience to the Word of God. What are the mechanics of this process? Listen carefully for this applies to you and me as well not just Israel or other nations. Remember, review, if necessary, the chapters before this one. Sin occurs. Next a warning, sometimes many warnings, over a substantial period of time is given the one sinning. In the absence of repentance, a trial occurs in Heaven. The devil is the adversary, Jesus our advocate, and the Father is the judge. A judgment is then rendered much like in a court here in the earth. The judgment or punishment will have limitations like in the Book or Job or here in an earthly court, 2 years in jail for example. The Devil then has access by way of our own sin and refusal to repent, but he is limited. This goes on daily. The devil does not work for God, we ourselves due to unrepented sin open the door to him and God has no authority to protect or close a door we have opened. The source of the trouble in our life is in the mirror. We open the door to the curse or to the blessing. With God’s help I am making every effort I know, to open the door wide to the blessing.
Lord willing, I will continue forward tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
