JESUS SPOKE AT THE TREASURY
Monday – March 18, 2019, Adar B 11, 5779

Greetings dear saints of the only living God, and greetings to those who are potential saints, and welcome to this powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. It is wonderful that our Lord has given to us the Policy and Procedure Manuel for the Kingdom of God, commonly called the Holy Bible. You probably heard it said that ignorance is no excuse for breaking the law, the same is true in the Kingdom of God. I do believe there is a level of mercy and Grace that operates in the life of a new born who is making every effort to move forward. We see this in the natural where a lot more leeway is given a six-month old than a thirty-year old. Again, be reminded if you are reading this on Facebook to hit the “like” and “share” buttons to expand the reach of this ministry. Be a part of strengthening the body of Christ. What will each of us chose today? Will we choose to be strengthened or will we choose to lose ground due to a lack of diligence and failing to place the very highest value on the Word of God, and the Word (the name of Jesus) above all else. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible Text from the Book of John reading it aloud.
John 8:20-23 (KJV)
20 These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.
21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.
22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come.
23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
Jesus has been talking to the religious leaders and other Jews gathered in the Temple (picture above) in the treasury area. They are livid with Him and want to kill Him but they are unable to lay a hand on Him for His time is not yet (the Cross). There are no idle words in the Word of God. We know this because Jesus warns us against idle words, that they, we, will be judged.
Matthew 12:36-37 (KJV)
36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
An idle word is one that is inactive which is spoken without faith. Do you see the importance of our words from this passage, it is even more striking if you read the preceding verses leading to this statement? All of creation came as the result of words, the Words of God, it is maintained by the Power of the Words of God. In like manner our individual world has been created by the words of our mouth and is maintained by the words of our mouth. We all might want to give this some very serious thought. I brought this all up due to the fact that our text points out that Jesus is speaking in the treasury area of the Temple. Have you thought about that or just dismissed it as the narrative giving a more complete description of the setting like one might find in a novel? However, I have already established that idle words are sin and Jesus did not sin and the Holy Spirit does not sin and it is He who is giving the words to John to write transmitting these Truths to us. What I am about to say is to some degree speculation for I do not see it explicit in the text however I might argue it is implicit. What is collected in the treasure? You might say, “silly question, money of course”. Exactly! Could it be that the people were starting to give into Jesus’ ministry and less to the Temple? Could that be a part of the cause of the rage engendered in the religious ruling class?
1 Timothy 6:10 (KJV)
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Is there any part of this 1 Timothy verse that does not apply to the religious ruling class of that day and the consequences they suffered? If you are struggling, the answer is, no. Please, please never think that money is evil! God wants us all to have money by the truck load but He does not want money to have us. Money is a powerful tool and it is God given to enjoy. Extravagant riches were just laying around the ground in the Garden of Eden.
Genesis 2:11-12 (KJV)
11 The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
12 And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.
As I finish for today consider the following and whether you have ever heard this in Church, ever in your lifetime.
Ecclesiastes 7:12 (KJV)
12 For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
Ecclesiastes 10:19 (KJV)
19 A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
