Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ from Eastern Gate Ministries International and The Three Minute Word publications. God is so good, we have His Word and do not need to stumble in darkness but can by diligence walk in the light and only the light. Now, let us continue our study of the wonderful Book of Ephesians.
Ephesians 1:12-14 (KJV)
12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
I spoke briefly last week about the “word of truth” indicating that the ‘word’ being referenced is Jesus, who is The Word, and the voice of all Holy Scripture. So, what about ‘truth’? From the day of our salvation a large part of our assignment and all of our assignment hinges on us becoming more and more like Jesus until we are just like Him. Make no mistake, if any of us do not attain to His stature here our education and training will be ongoing there until we attain. We will not become God, capital G, with all the attributes of God but we will be like Him in every other way. All of this is fundamental to a passage of Scripture just ahead of us (Ephesians 1:17-23) which if believed, received, and acted upon will take us places today we might think are pie in the sky, so to speak. So, let’s get to work, the world, all of mankind needs to see Jesus. Now I want to review what or more accurately Who the Truth describes. Just as the word Christ describes more than one person so does the Truth.
Jesus told us that He was the truth.
John 14:6 (KJV)
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Jesus told us that the Holy Spirit was Truth.
John 14:17 (KJV)
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John 14:26 (KJV)
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Jesus told us the Word of God was truth.
John 17:17 (KJV)
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Finally we find that love (God [Elohim] is Love) is the truth.
Psalm 119:142 (KJV)
142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.
Matthew 22:36-39 (KJV)
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
What is the purpose and the outcome when we fully pursue the ‘word of truth’? We become just like Jesus, a representation, a representative of the Father to all. We become a revelation of God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, for all to see. And, we become the very expression of God (Elohim) just as Jesus was an expression of God to all. Except for the role of The Sacrificial Lamb we are to be all that Jesus was during His earthly ministry and more (do greater things) and all that He is today except those attributes unique to God.
John 14:8-12 (KJV)
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works‘ sake.
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Do we dare to believe this, do we dare to act on this, do we dare to confess this, and do we dare to be this? Do we believe that any or all of this applies to us? What is our level of obedience, love of God, if we are not striving to make every part of this passage and others ours?
