O RIGHTEOUS FATHER

Greetings to all who are reading this blog and welcome back to this powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. Before we dive fully into todays teaching, I ask each of you to please take a moment to share as widely as possible. Each of us have a responsibility to share the Truth. The featured picture today is courtesy of a regular reader and diligent Bible student, Kathy French. It appears that this is Coos Canyon in Byron Maine. As you know we are very near to Election Day, the 3rd of November. I strongly encourage everyone to vote, it is our civic and spiritual duty. I hope you have taken the time to look at the Republican and Democrat Party platforms and have not just been gobbling up the endless commercials. Also, I certainly hope none of us are reacting emotionally, carnally, to President Trump but that we are reacting spiritually recognizing the Biblical agenda he and Vice President Pence promote. His work concerning Supreme Court nominations alone sets him apart as a man deserving unwavering support. That is my personal view. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text reading it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 17:25-26 (KJV)
25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
John 18:1-2 (KJV)
1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.
2 And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples.
We have been an observer and learner as Jesus speaks to the Father in the last moments of His earthly Ministry. As you have observed from our primary text Jesus is about to go to the Garden of Gethsemane where He will pray one more time before surrendering to the Cross. In the course of this 17th chapter of John, Jesus as addressed Jehovah as His Father several times and we see that yet again but with some difference. He refers to the Father as a “righteous Father”. We, in the Church, are used to hearing the word “righteous” with regard to our being righteous or in right standing with the Father (Jehovah) in Christ Jesus.
The general meaning of righteousness put forward is that in Christ Jesus we have been made right or have right standing with the Father. In this case we (Jesus) are not talking about someone who was unrighteous (us) who needed to be made righteous but someone who is righteousness. This particular word ‘righteous’ is used 81 times in the New Testament, 41 times translated as righteous, 33 times as just, 5 times as right, and 2 times as meet according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. The root word (used 4 times) is translated as vengeance twice, judgment once, and punish once. The meaning given of the root is to be right (as self-evident), justice (the principle, a decision, or its execution), judgment, punish, and vengeance according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. I don’t think any of us have any question that the Father is righteous and I hope you don’t have a question that you are righteous in Christ Jesus. Let’s go ahead now and look at this verse in the Amplified Translation.
John 17:25 (AMP)
25 O just and righteous Father, although the world has not known You and has failed to recognize You and has never acknowledged You, I have known You [continually]; and these men understand and know that You have sent Me.
Here we see the word ‘just’ which means to have behavior that is morally right and fair. Synonyms for ‘just’ include fair, fair-minded, equitable, even-handed, impartial, unbiased, objective, and neutral. So, what can we say? Our God, Father God, always does the right thing, is always just, always provides ample opportunity for all to choose Him or reject Him. Some accepted and some rejected in spite of the presentation being made by The Son of God Himself with an abundance of signs and wonders following confirming the Words He preached. They were without excuse just as those who reject Jesus as Savior today are without excuse. The Apostle Paul addresses this in His writings as well.
Romans 1:20 (KJV)
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
No one, not from the time of Jesus until the last day will have an excuse at the Judgment. If you do not know Jesus as Lord and Savior receive Him right now and enter an exciting adventure beyond your current thoughts, or imaginations. The Devil and his bunch do not have anything close to the real Christian walk. In addition, look back at all the things that define our Father God in this teaching and the Devil is the polar opposite.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
