Proverbs 9:1, 10 (KJV)
1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
It is Thursday and we are choosing to make the Word of God our own so that day by day we think and speak more and more like our Father. As we plunge into this precious Word be reminded to pray for the seven pillars of society, today we are focusing on the Pillar of Media and Information Technology. There are men and women out there that God has called to be in all types of media, people that are children of the King, citizens of Heaven, Ambassadors on assignment in the earth and the world. God’s people called to the Pillar of Media and Information Technology have the responsibility to supply the other children of the Kingdom of God and those in the kingdom of this world ruled by Satan accurate information. They are to tell the whole story and know how that fits with the Word of God. Of course our enemies (not people) do not want this for they have a wicked agenda which they want hidden and brought forward tearing down the righteous and glossing over the wicked. Pray that God’s people come forward and take up their assignments without fear and that truth shine forth as the sun. This is part of our Spiritual Warfare. The devil has wicked ideas, and then there are the original pure and powerful ideas of God.
Colossians 2:1 (KJV)
1 For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
Just as the Apostle Paul was in conflict for the issues plaguing Colossae and Laodicea so are we in conflict with the forces of evil for righteousness in the Pillar of Media and Information Technology. Now let’s return to our text in First Peter.
1 Peter 5:5-10 (KJV)
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
Yesterday I left off talking about verse seven, seven is the number of spiritual perfection or completion, five is a number for the Grace or Goodness of God (Holy Spirit), and First Peter is the twenty first book of the Latter Rain (Latter Scripture) meaning exceeding sinfulness. Not submitting to the Elders, not being subject one to another, not being clothed with humility, and not humbling ourselves (our choice) is exceedingly great sin. The word ‘care’ in this seventh verse means ‘a distracting idea’. We are to take that distracting idea, a thought that is contrary even a little bit from the Word of God and cast it away, destroy it from our thought life. We do that by the process of renewing our mind. For example perhaps the idea that abortion may not be too bad especially under certain circumstances or real early on in the pregnancy. That is an exceedingly wicked and contrary idea that has no place in our thinking because it has no place in the thinking of our Heavenly Father.
Psalm 106:36-39 (KJV)
36 And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.
37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
38 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
39 Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
Could we substitute ‘America’ for ‘Canaan’ in verse thirty-eight? Of course we could. Fortunately we have a merciful God and when Israel repented they were forgiven and restored and so can America repent, be forgiven, and restored.
Psalm 106:43-45 (KJV)
43 Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.
44 Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:
45 And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.
Do not get caught up in foolish arguments that this thing in the uterus of the women is just a blob and not a person until some magical time that fits a wicked paradigm. From the moment the sperm and the egg come together a person exists and in God’s mind perhaps even before that time.
Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)
5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
So, let’s identify the lies of the enemy, find out what God says about any given topic and make God’s Word alone part of our thinking, the enemy is darkness and darkness always flees from the light. Let’s say the enemy convinces us that it is okay to murder a child in the womb of the mother whose conception came about by rape. But God says every person is precious, purchased by God with the precious blood of Jesus which is beyond cost.
1 Peter 1:18-19 (KJV)
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Tomorrow we will pick up with our text and verse eight.
