THE DOOR
Monday – May 27, 2019, Iyar 22, 5779

Greetings dear friends and partners of Eastern Gate Ministries International and The Three Minute Word publication. As many of you know, this beautiful couple were married on Saturday the 25th. The pictures this week are from a recent trip to Boothbay, Maine. God is so good, He will if you allow, make all things new again. Before we move into this powerful Bible Study of the Book of John let me remind those who are reading this on Facebook to hit the “like” and “share” buttons. Now let’s read our primary Bible text aloud.
John 10:9-13 (KJV)
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
As you will recall Jesus referred to Himself as “the door” in verse seven and now again in verse nine. He is not a door but the door. There are not many doors to the Kingdom of God or Heaven but one and His name is Jesus. Notice that each person makes the choice to enter into the sheepfold (Kingdom of God). We, mankind, were created as freewill beings in the image and likeness of God from the beginning. We choose our own fate; it is not chosen by God or any other person but by we ourselves. Now God has a wonderful plan for every single person which is freely available but He does not force any person to walk in His plan. The plan of God never involves loss.
As we move forward, I want to deal with the word ‘saved’ from the ninth verse above. This word is transliterated from the Greek as sōzō and means to be safe, to save, deliver or protect (literal or figurative), heal, preserve, do well, and be (make) whole according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Just who would not want this salvation? The benefits are easy for us to see who are in the light but not for those in the darkness, spiritual blindness, which we all once were. All of the benefits of salvation are for us now not just upon arrival in Heaven.
There is only one way to enter the sheepfold and that is by the Door, who is Christ Jesus. We are told plainly again in the following passage that one name and one name only allows one into the sheepfold, the Kingdom of God.
Acts 4:10-12 (KJV)
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Jesus tells us in John 10:9 our primary text that there is freedom in Him and that finding pasture (all the good things of life) will not or should not be a struggle. We see all of this in the definition of the word, the idea, the reality of being saved or receiving the free gift of salvation. I hope we are all familiar with the reference to “pastures” in the 23rd Psalm.
Psalm 23:1-2 (KJV)
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
The Lord is not only the door (the only entrance point) but the shepherd (who guides us about the Kingdom). It would seem that with just a modest effort one could succeed in the Kingdom. Our Lord is all about abundance. Not only does He have abundance, not only does Heaven overflow with abundance, but He has provided that we overflow with abundance in the earth. Abundance was provided to Adam and is available to us through, in, and by Christ Jesus. Looking back for a moment at the 23rd Psalm notice that with the Shepherd, not off on our own, we “shall not want”. We all have needs but our Shepherd is talking wants!
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
