AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

THE TIME WILL COME
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome to day two of another four days of studying the wonderful Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment to share this teaching as widely as possible by every means at your disposal. Thank you so much for sharing. If you are not sharing, why not? Sharing is a very easy and practical way of bringing the good news to many more people. They like you and me will make a choice to receive or reject. The featured picture is of a portion of Belgrade Stream near a camp that we have rented years in the past. Did you notice the fall colors and the beavers’ dam? A really wonderful location summer or fall. Our God is so very good. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text from the wonderful book of Isaiah. Remember, read out loud.
Isaiah 27:11-13 (TLB)
11 My people are like the dead branches of a tree, broken off and used to burn beneath the pots. They are a foolish nation, a witless, stupid people, for they turn away from God. Therefore, he who made them will not have pity on them or show them his mercy.
12 Yet the time will come when the Lord will gather them together one by one like handpicked grain, selecting them here and there from his great threshing floor that reaches all the way from the Euphrates River to the Egyptian boundary.
13 In that day the great trumpet will be blown, and many about to perish among their enemies, Assyria and Egypt, will be rescued and brought back to Jerusalem to worship the Lord in his holy mountain.
As you will recall Israel has been under judgement not because God is an angry God and wants to keep them on their toes but because they have left Him, His Words, His safety net. This is not how God chastises, God chastises by teaching His Word. They have gone their own way, at least in their minds, but really, they have chosen to go into the curse, the devil’s domain. There is no such thing as neutral ground or our own way, we are either doing the ways of the Kingdom of God or we are doing the ways of the kingdom of darkness, period. Yes, Christians can be operating in the kingdom of darkness and still go to Heaven.
Our text tells us that “Yet the time will come when the Lord will gather them together one by one”. This territory described in verse twelve is their “Promised Land” yet this land is occupied by others and these have scattered the children of God. These conquerors have not only occupied the land grant given Israel by God but have taken Gods’ people captive as servants. How did this happen?
Deuteronomy 28:14-15 (KJV)
14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
Going aside from the Word of God is to serve another god and it allows the curse full access. The following verse is just one small aspect of the curse.
Deuteronomy 28:25 (KJV)
25 The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
Did this happen to Israel, actually over and over, sure did, we have been reading about it, has it happened to you and me? Has Israel been scattered over all the earth? Yes, they have but there will come a day when a holy remnant will occupy the Land Grant God gave this first covenant people. It seems that verses twelve and thirteen can in part be prophetic of the regathering of the Jews from their various captivities, but also the greatest of all in the millennial time. This is also a picture of the Church being gathered to the Heavenly Jerusalem (holy mount at Jerusalem) and then later coming with Jesus to the earthly holy mount at Jerusalem in the earth.
