ONLY THE BODY AND BLOOD OF JESUS

Greetings dear saints of God and welcome back to this exciting study of “The Trail of Blood”. We are following from before the foundation of the world, the Garden of Eden, Noah, Abraham, and now Moses. An exciting journey to full and eternal redemption and return to the original intent of God.
Yesterday I left off in the midst of a discussion of the sacrifice for unintentional sin or sins of ignorance. All sin requires a death, and all sin requires the shedding of blood. There are no slaps on the wrist or “I guess I messed up, followed by laughter.” Now let us pick up with the process and seriousness of the sin offering from yesterday.
The bullock was brought to the door of the tabernacle and killed there. Later in this book, I will be addressing the Tabernacle, since it is a veiled picture of Jesus – a picture of redemption. I’d like to say at this point, that the door of the tabernacle symbolized Christ.
John 10:7-9 (KJV)
7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
For now, in your mind, your imagination, form a simple picture of the Tabernacle. The shape is a rectangle (fifty cubits by one hundred cubits) and on one end is the door symbolizing Jesus. By the way there is just one door, one gate to the Tabernacle (Kingdom of God and Heaven). Just inside the gate, in the courtyard, is the Alter of Burnt Offering (symbolizing the cross and work of the Holy Spirit), where the blood is poured out and the body burned.
As you move toward the Tent of Meeting, you come to the laver, which is where the Priests washed their hands and feet before proceeding into the Holy Place. This water is the Word, the washing of the Word to make one clean. As you proceed westward (entered from the east) there is an enclosure which is divided by a veil (spelled vail here). The portion closest to the courtyard is the holy place. Beyond the veil, where the mercy seat is housed and the presence of God resides, is called the Most Holy Place.
So in this process of atonement, the animal is killed before the alter of burnt offerings, blood is taken to the Holy Place and sprinkled seven times before the Lord, and some blood is placed on the horns of the alter of incense (symbolic of grace, the work of the Holy Spirit and the Trinity of the Godhead). Seven is the number of spiritual completion. The priest then returned to the courtyard and poured out all the blood on the altar of the burnt offering. As you read on in this fourth chapter of Leviticus, certain things are removed from this bullock, including the fat from the inwards, and are burned on the altar of the burnt offerings. The remainder of the animal is taken without the camp and burned in a clean place (ceremonially). This is also a picture of Jesus.
Hebrews 13:11-12 (KJV)
11 For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.
12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.
Thank you so much Lord Jesus, you are my Savior and my Lord for now and eternity.
TAKE HOME:
- All sin requires a death and the shedding of blood, thank you Jesus for taking our place, you were the only one sufficient, we are and were insufficient.
- Just as we saw in the Passover event, the blood was spilled and applied and the whole body was consumed or destroyed by fire. At salvation, the Blood is applied to our house giving eternal life and the strips (destruction of Jesus’ body) took our sin giving us His righteousness.
- We are spiritually complete by the sacrifice of Jesus the Christ come in the flesh.
