SIN MUST BE REMOVED – THE ROCK DID

Welcome back dear saints and others to our study of The Trail of Blood from Heaven before the foundation of the world to the Garden of Eden, to Cain and Abel, to Noah, to Abraham, to Moses, and now to the Lord our Rock. Jesus is that spiritual Rock from which we all now drink. This is reference to the children of Israel receiving water from the rock in the wilderness. Water is representative of the Word of God; it refreshes and cleanses. Drink what the fully revealed Word of the Savior, the Messiah. Now, let’s plunge into our study picking up from yesterday.
We know that Jesus is THE STONE, THE ROCK.
1 Corinthians 10:4 (KJV)
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. [2]
Every time we have Communion, we are reminded that Jesus’ body was broken for us, so that ours would not have to be broken.
1 Corinthians 11:24 (KJV)
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. [2]
There is an interesting Old Testament reference in 2 Samuel.
2 Samuel 22:2-3 (KJV)
2 And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my Saviour; thou savest me from violence. [2]
We see quite clearly here that The LORD, the rock, is a deliverer, our salvation. Without beating around the bush any longer, let me suggest that perhaps the act of stoning a repentant sinner under the Old Covenant provided a path of redemption – entrance into Abraham’s Bosom – pending the shedding of the blood of Messiah. All sin before the Cross and Resurrection required death with the shedding of blood. Jesus did it once for all.
The blood of Jesus set aside sin forever for all peoples. Only the rejection of the blood of Christ will result in you going to Hell. By that I mean that you never accept Jesus as Lord and Savior; or after you do, you enter into a continuous rebellion against His Lordship, transgressing His commands (especially the command of love), and do the works of wickedness, not righteousness. These works of wickedness includes fear and unbelief. Yet, I hear many Christians use careless terms like, “That about scared me to death.” They may continually confess that they are afraid of this and that. They may practice unbelief by not submitting to the Word of God, confessing the Word, and doing the Word. I am not saying you are going to Hell but I think it behooves us all to give way more honor to God, His Word, and His sacrifice.
Let’s look at a few Scriptures that describe who is to be stoned.
Leviticus 20:2 (KJV)
2 Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones. [2]
Today, this would mean people who abandon their children. This judgment would fall particularly hard on men, but you may know women that abandoned their children to leave with another man or woman. It would include those having abortions; sacrificing a person, their unborn child on the altar of convenience or any number of other reasons – none of which are sufficient to take a life.
Leviticus 20:27 (KJV)
27 A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them. [2]
This has to do with witchcraft, the daily horoscope, palm reading, or rituals to contact the dead (as Saul did). This is very serious business; for it is a direct invitation for demonic spirits to enter your life, perhaps even your body. It certainly can lead to satanic oppressions and even demonic possession. The source of these things should be completely removed from our midst.
TAKE HOME:
- In the “Old Testament” God commanded stoning to death for certain moral and other sins.
- Persons sacrificing children (abortion) and those practicing witchcraft were to be stoned to death.
- Do we truly understand the sacrifice of the Rock and what that provided for us including freedom from The Law of Sin and Death.
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
