THE TRUTH
Tuesday – September 25, 2018, Tishrei 16, 5779

Greetings and welcome back to this wonderful faith building study of the Word of God. The featured picture today is a beautiful Baptist Church located in Fayette Maine. When we listen to the Word of God with purpose then we are able to hear and understand more and faith in that Word comes. Our purpose is not to find fault or be a naysayer but to see how it applies to our individual lives, the Church at large, and apply it for the glory of God, to please our Heavenly Father. We choose to hear the Word, we choose to believe the Word, we then speak the Word, and we take whatever corresponding action the Word requires. We will then not speak any words that are contrary to the Word of God and we will take captive any thoughts contrary to the Word of God. In this way, what is impossible to man is not only possible but present in our lives through God. Now, let’s get back to our primary text in the Book of John reading it aloud.
John 1:14-16 (KJV)
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
As you know we are now focusing on the phrase “full of grace and truth” but more specifically on the word “truth”. I have pointed out that there are at least four aspects of truth (should be capitalized for it is of the Devine) and they are the Word of God, Holy Spirit of God, Jesus, and Love. I have addressed the Word of God as Truth in the September 21 edition of The Three Minute Word. The Word of God is an illumination that leaves nothing hidden. It is impossible to separate Jesus, the Word of John 1:1, from the written Word of God. He is not one thing and His Words another, they are one and the same. Before we move on to the other aspects of the Truth I want to go back to a Scripture I introduced a few days ago.
1 Timothy 2:4 (KJV)
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Notice the will of God is for all to be saved, not some, but all, none are assigned to Hell by God.
John 3:18 (KJV)
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Men (mankind), each of us individually make a conscious choice for salvation through believing on Christ Jesus or not. Scripture tells that when we come before God in the judgment (Romans 1:20) none will have an excuse for not being saved. From this secondary text of 1 Timothy 2:4 notice the conjunctive which links the first idea with the second. It seems that it is possible for a person to be saved but not come to “the knowledge of the truth”. This is a sad truth. It seems that Christians by the millions get the equivalent of fire insurance and continue a religionized version of the prior life. Knowledge of the truth does not just drop on us and will not be gained from a once a week Church service no matter how wonderful your Pastor may be. Knowledge of the truth is gained only by diligent study of the Word. I am not talking about reading the Bible, I am talking about studying the Bible.
As we are coming to the end of todays teaching let us ask ourselves about the word “knowledge” from our Timothy text and what does it mean. This word is not just talking about information but of course information is a part. The Greek word is transliterated to English as “epignōsis” according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary and finally in our text to “knowledge”. We can divide this word into “epi” which is the core and “gnosis” which is knowledge or knowing. Let’s take a look at another source to help us understand this word. According to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – New Testament this word means to recognize, it expresses a more thorough participation in the acquiring of knowledge on the part of the learner. In the NT, it often refers to knowledge which very powerfully influences the form of religious life, a knowledge laying claim to personal involvement. I have summarized this knowledge as being above and dominating earthly knowledge, it is the very core of Truth, it is clear, exact, engaging, and life changing. Isn’t this the kind of knowledge that we want to be acquiring and impacting our lives every day?
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
