SPIRIT AND TRUTH
Wednesday – September 26, 2018, Tishrei 17, 5779

Greetings and welcome back to this wonderful study taken from the Bible Book of John. I have been teaching from this Book and I am now focused on the twelfth verse and the idea of the truth. The featured picture today is of a beautiful Baptist Church in Waterville Maine. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary text from the Book of John reading it aloud.
John 1:14-16 (KJV)
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
Today I will continue to be focused on the Truth. Since Jesus was full of the truth it would seem to me a laudable goal to be full of Truth for each of us as well. The four aspects of the truth are the Word, Holy Spirit, Love, and Jesus. I have talked about the Word of God being Truth. We digressed a little yesterday to further define and understand the word “knowledge” from 1 Timothy 2:4 and I believe that adds much to our understanding. Before moving forward into a discussion of the Holy Spirit, Love, and Jesus as Truth let us look at the following Scripture.
John 4:23-24 (KJV)
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Worship is submission to another (in this case God) making ones will subject to the will of the one being worshiped or the one to whom we are submitted. We commonly hear the song service referred to as “Praise and Worship” but generally it is very little of either. If that is the extent of our “praise and worship” we will accomplish little to nothing for the Kingdom of God and have zero maturation process. Jesus Himself tells us that “true worshippers” must worship the Father in spirit and in truth and furthermore the Father is seeking after these people. Jesus then tells us why. The Father is a Spirit and the only way we can communicate and function in His space is in the Spirit and in Truth. Our words are spirit so therefore our words must be the same as the Word of God as guided by the Truth which is the Word, Jesus, Love, and Holy Spirit. We do not submit to the Father using our own words but His Words, those are the only words that will accomplish Kingdom objectives.
Now, let’s look at Holy Spirit as Truth.
John 14:17 (KJV)
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John 16:13 (KJV)
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
You have already noticed that both passages are uttered by Jesus Himself, the Word which became flesh. We see that Holy Spirit is referred to as “the Spirit of truth” making those references synonymous terms and referring to the same person of God. Of course, when Jesus uttered these words He was looking forward to the Day of Pentecost, whereas we are looking back nearly 2000 years. The Spirit of Truth is now among us legally, if saved He resides within and is the One who speaks with our spirit man. If we are filled with the Spirit of Truth He provides Power and a prophetic window to the future. Like Jesus in the earth only spoke the Words of the Father so now Holy Spirit only speaks to us the Words He hears of Jesus (voice), from the Father (thoughts). When God speaks there is nothing hidden, there is no hidden agenda. Notice right at the end of John 16:13 Jesus tells us that the Spirit of truth will show us things to come. He does not say that He will tell the Prophets and they will tell you but that He will speak directly to each and every one of us concerning things to come in our lives. Are we listening?
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
