THY THRONE O GOD – FATHER’S DAY
Monday – June 19, 2017

Grace and peace be unto you from our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Welcome to The Three Minute Word as we continue our Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews. As you know, yesterday was Father’s Day. The picture featured today is of my father and me in 1961. Where do the years go? My Dad was a good and Godly man who has had a lasting positive impact on me and many others. From time to time still people will tell me what a help my parents were to them when they were young in the things of God. That is so good hear. My Dad has been in Heaven since 1974 way too early and was joined by my Mother in 2013. I am sure they both have much to share with each other. I value the impact my parents have had on my life, that impact is eternal, and for that I am very grateful. Now, let’s tackle our Bible Study.
Hebrews 1:7-10 (KJV)
7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
We are so privileged to have these Words of the Father to study and better understand the Father and Son. These Scriptures give us the Words of the Father and more insight into what happened on the day that Jesus was restored to the Throne of Heaven fully as God. As we move into Hebrews 1:8 we find the Father, Jehovah, restoring the Son, Jesus,
to the Throne of Heaven for an eternal period of time. The Father places a sceptre (correct modern spelling is scepter) in His hand which is a symbol of authority. The Father tells the Son that this sceptre (pictured) represents righteousness and the Kingdom of the Son. Righteousness in this context and generally as used in the Bible has to do with right standing with God. There was a brief time when Jesus was not in right standing with God and that is when He was made sin on our behalf. As the song goes, He paid a debt He did not owe while I owed a debt I could not pay. O thank you, thank you, Jesus.
As we examine Hebrews 1:8 we find that the word ‘is’ in italics. This means that the word is not in the original manuscript and was added by the translators for clarity or smoothness of reading. The problem is that the addition of the word ‘is’ makes it appear that there are two sceptre or that it represents two separate ideas, one being righteousness and the other being the Kingdom of the Son. Let’s examine this verse in two other translations to add clarity.
Hebrews 1:8 (AMP)
8 But as to the Son, He says to Him, Your throne, O God, is forever and ever (to the ages of the ages), and the scepter of Your kingdom is a scepter of absolute righteousness (of justice and straightforwardness).
Hebrews 1:8 (HCSB)
8 but to the Son: Your throne, God, is forever and ever, and the scepter of Your kingdom is a scepter of justice.
Now we can see that this sceptre which represents His Kingdom rule (Headship) is one of righteousness. As we can see by the HCSB translation His Kingdom is a kingdom of justice, the sceptre is a symbol of that justice. When Jesus was made sin, He was made sin for all people for all time and for all sin. The only sin not forgiven is the rejection or blasphemy of the Holy Spirit as He woos us to Jesus. Nobody is going to Hell for stealing, killing or any other sin except the rejection of Jesus as Savior and Lord (the unpardonable sin). Since the price of righteousness is paid, when we receive Jesus as Savior and Lord we are made the righteousness of God in Him.
2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Justice demands that we the redeemed of the Lord be regarded in the same light as Jesus at the Throne of Majesty on high. At the moment of Adam’s sin all of mankind became unrighteous, lost right standing with God. That has all been set right however by the sinless Blood of Jesus and the Words of His testimony. The Blood Covenant initiated with Abram/Abraham was sealed, ratified, forever. We have a much better deal than Adam in that we are in Christ Jesus. If we err and sin we do not instantly die spiritually. We do not lose our righteousness for we are in Him and He does not lose His righteousness because we sin. We will however suffer the consequences of our sin spirit, and body. The soul (mind) is already corrupted that is how we entered into the sin, we accepted a lie of the enemy and placed it above the Truth. The door for the enemy to steal, kill, and destroy is now wide open. Repentance closes the door to the enemy and our soul (mind, way of thinking is corrected) is restored such that we are in agreement with God. I will pick up right here tomorrow.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
