WE ARE ONE

Greetings dear saints of God and welcome back to this powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. The Lord is taking the cover off for us to peer into His will and ways, they are not intended by God to be a secret hidden from His people. Whenever you hear people declaring that we can’t know the ways of God cast that down, we can not only know the ways of God but walk in His ways as well. Not only are His ways to be our ways but His thoughts are to be our thoughts, and His Word are to be our words. We have the mind of Christ dear ones. The difference between knowing His ways and not knowing His ways is lack of fellowship with Him, failure to study, and a lack of willingness to take responsibility for our thoughts, words, and ways. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and read it aloud.
John 10:27-33 (KJV)
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
30 I and my Father are one.
31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
As we pick up our study for today, I am going to linger a little longer with verse thirty of our text. I am always so fascinated by the numbers in the Bible text and those which were added as convenient markers for identifying chapter and verse. In this case we are dealing with the tenth chapter of the fourth Book of the New Testament, and the thirtieth verse. The number four has to do with light, authority, and power. Jesus is that bright light that came into the world and gave birth when He was sown to many lights (you and me). Jesus by the work of Calvary and in Hell restored to us the authority to trigger supernatural events releasing the Power (Blessing) of God to flow according to His will. The number ten has to do with responsibility or responsibilities, generally those of God and those of man. Due to the Blood Covenant in place from the beginning but come into plain view in the life of Abraham and Isaac God had the responsibility to send Jesus (the Word) into the earth. We now have the responsibility to step into that Covenant or not. The free gift of salvation is freely extended, what will we do? Finally, but far from least is the number thirty. This number has to do with the Blood of Jesus. Remember the verse we are focused on says that Jesus and the Father are one, however, yesterday I took us to a passage of Scripture (John 17) that says we are one in Him. The only reason we can be one with God is the Blood of Jesus!
Continuing with verse thirty and with the idea of being one with the Father and the Son I want to introduce an intimately related fact, Truth. I am going to talk briefly about the peace of God. Not from the aspect of peace with God but the peace of God. Remember that our spiritual DNA is the same as God’s and we get a peek at that in the fruits of the spirit, our spirit. That fruit at first is in baby form, compared to being full blown in God. However, we have the capacity to approach His level of the fruits. Consider the following verse.
John 14:27 (KJV)
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Before salvation the peace of God, the capacity of the peace in our spiritual DNA is dead until salvation. That is not to say that people do not have natural levels of peace, tranquility. They do not have the capacity to be one with God or have any of the fruits, realities of Godly peace before salvation. In the verse above we see Jesus declaring that He was giving us His peace and the result would be that we not be troubled (worried) or afraid. Fear has torment. Now consider the following verse.
Philippians 4:7 (KJV)
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
The same “peace” is being talked about in both passages. This word “peace” means to be joined to, to have prosperity, to be one or whole, have quietness, to be at rest (provision of God), and to be set at one again. All of these realities, ideas are in God and at salvation we are in Christ Jesus who is in God. As we study this let’s remember and confess that we are joined with God, we have His prosperity (joint-heirs), we have His tranquility, we have access to all He has access to, and we are one with Him. If it does not affect Him it cannot affect us unless we grant permission with unbelief. When we see opposing ideas coming, we can say “what does that have to do with me?”, if it has nothing to do with our Heavenly Father, it has nothing to do with us.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
