NEVER PERISH
Thursday – June 13, 2019, Sivan 10, 5779

Greetings dear saints of God and welcome back to this powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. The Lord is taking the cover off for us to peer into His will and ways, they are not intended by God to be a secret hidden from His people. Whenever you hear people declaring that we can’t know the ways of God cast that down, we can not only know the ways of God but walk in His ways as well. Not only are His ways to be our ways but His thoughts are to be our thoughts, and His Word are to be our words. We have the mind of Christ dear ones. The difference between knowing His ways and not knowing His ways is lack of fellowship with Him, failure to study, and a lack of willingness to take responsibility for our thoughts, words, and ways. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and read it aloud.
John 10:27-33 (KJV)
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
30 I and my Father are one.
31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
I will pick up again with verse twenty-eight where Jesus is explaining the wonderful consequence of believing upon Him, believing His words, and following Him. As wonderful as these consequences are for the believer, they are equally awful for the unbeliever. Everyone at conception and forever has awareness. The question is will that awareness be life or death, eternal damnation or eternal life. Jesus points point that those who receive eternal life will never perish. The word ‘perish’ has to do with destruction and being destroyed. This however is not a single episode of being destroyed it is continuous and ongoing with no hope of being whole or moving from death to life.
The other thing that is important to note is that those who believe and have eternal life cannot be snatched or plucked out of the Hand of Jesus. Notice in the King James Version that the word ‘man’ is in italics meaning it was not in the original or oldest manuscript used for that translation. The proper reading would therefore omit the word ‘man’ and say “neither shall any pluck them out of my hand”. This is important so that we know that no human person nor any spiritual person can remove us from the Hand of Jesus, the Hand of God. It, however, does not preclude we ourselves from removing ourselves from the Hand of Jesus, of God. In all aspects of our lives we and we alone determine the course of our lives and our eternity.
Jesus goes on to inform the Jews that just as no one else (human, or demonic) can take a believer our of His Hand neither can they take that same believer out of the Father’s Hand. Seems pretty secure to me. The only way out of Jesus’ Hand or the Father’s Hand is for the believer themselves to become unbelievers denouncing Jesus as Lord. The other side of this coin of course applies to unbelievers as well. No human or spiritual person can remove them from Satan’s hand other than the individual themselves. An unbeliever cannot be prayed out of Hell or purgatory. Only the unbeliever can remove themselves from the hand of Satan by declaring Jesus as Lord. That testimony and the Blood of the Lamb (Jesus) will save them and they are instantly translated into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son.
As we look at our text we find that Jesus has these Jews in an uproar and He is about to make it worse. Jesus was not a politically correct preacher for sure. The kindest and most loving thing one can do is tell the Truth at all times with clarity. Jesus tells them and us that He and the Father are one. As you can imagine this did not draw any ‘amens’ but a let’s stone Jesus party. Jesus actually elaborates on this statement telling all that He and the Father are one later in this chapter. We see this again later in this Book, in chapter seventeen.
John 17:20-23 (KJV)
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
Let me point out that this statement of being one with the Father does not mean they are the same person. They are indeed different by equal persons of the Triune God. However, they are one in thought, one in word, and one in deed. Just as a husband and wife are to be one in thought, word, and deed. Lord willing, I will pick up here tomorrow.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
