AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH
Tuesday – January 19, 2021, Sh’vat 6, 5781
THEY RAN BOTH TOGETHER
Greetings dear and precious saints of the only Living God, the only true God. Wow, 2021 is off and running, God is vindicating His Prophets, He will never leave His people high and dry. Is today as you believed or different? The featured pictures yesterday, today, and tomorrow are of pleasant fall scenes instead of the stark reality of winter in Maine. Now, don’t just skip over this introductory teaching, this is Holy Spirit inspired also, just because it is the same as yesterday. Before we proceed please take a moment and share this Bible teaching extending the reach of the Truth to those looking for the Truth. Many say they are looking for the Truth. Many say they are believing God to bring about change in their lives. Sadly, most are not willing to change their thoughts, words, and actions. Our previous thoughts, words, and actions have produced the life we now have. So, what must happen to produce first a different spiritual reality and then a different physical reality? We must change our thought life to God’s thoughts first. If we have evil established in our lives it is because we have evil thoughts. I didn’t say that, Jesus did. By the way, the following passage applies to you and me, not just the heathen!
Luke 6:44-46 (KJV)
44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Dear brother and sister let’s examine every belief and prove it by the Word or discard it renewing our mind to the Truth. Let’s forsake our pride and false humility. The Church, the organized, traditional Church, is in pitiful shape without faith, powerless, and a derision to the world. Jesus preached repentance and the Kingdom of God, what about us? We are not preaching and walking in redemption from the curse (part of being a Kingdom citizen) but instead wallowing in it like it is the will of God. Freedom from the curse does not happen automatically, it is (like everything else) obtained by faith, in love, led of the Holy Spirit. Is what I have written true?
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary text in the wonderful Book of John and continue along. Read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 20:1-4 (KJV)
1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.
3 Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre.
4 So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.
We can plainly see from the text that the disciples (Apostles) and others like Mary Magdalene were not yet grasping the fullness of what has happened and now happening. These are still natural people, unsaved, believers but their spirit man remains unquickened (made alive). Do not be surprised when talking to unsaved friends and relatives that they may nod politely, perhaps not, but they don’t really have a clue what you are talking about.
1 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV)
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
The quickening is at the door now (in our text), Jesus has paid the price of sin, redeemed us from the curse and made eternal life available to all who will believe upon Him and confess Him with their mouth as Lord. The Apostle John outran the Apostle Peter. I wonder why. Could it be that the Apostle Peter is still much too aware of his betrayal, his denial of Christ? Does our allowing condemnation hinder our walk in the Kingdom? Yes, it does! Allowing condemnation is sin. Meditate on the following verses.
John 3:19 (KJV)
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Romans 8:1 (KJV)
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
