MORE ABOUT PEACE
Greetings precious children of God and welcome to The Three Minute Word blog. We are a blessed people if we will focus on Him. The Holy Bible is Gods’ Policy and Procedure Manuel for now and eternity. He has hidden nothing from us.
Romans 12:2 (KJV)
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The word ‘prove’ in the preceding verse has to do with approving, discerning, examining, and allowing. The ball is entirely in our court we decide how much to know and what we will do with what we know. What have you decided, what have I decided? The Word of God is foolishness to the world, unsaved, but is Truth and Light to the saved. Those who are born again (saved) have a quickened spirit man and can hear from God. The Holy Spirit is the Master Teacher, are we taking advantage of that? It is not automatic; we must study the Word of God and spend time with the Lord every day. Spending time with the Lord means that every day we have a private time (prayer closet) with the Lord. I also highly recommend that we all make a habit of talking with Him throughout the day concerning all of the events of our day. Preferably before each event not just after. Also, be sure to have a heart and mouth filled with thanksgiving even when you don’t feel like it. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 20:26-29 (KJV)
26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
We are once again speaking, teaching, about peace. The first time Jesus appeared to His disciples His very first words were “Peace be unto you” and now with His second appearance His first words are “Peace be unto you”. Do you suppose there is something for us to learn and implement into our lives? My guess is that for most of us if not all of us we would find it strange, foreign, even awkward for our first words upon entering a house to be “Peace be unto you”. Yet this is what Jesus taught His disciples. Let’s go back to when Jesus appointed and Anointed twelve disciples to go out.
Matthew 10:12-15 (KJV)
12 And when ye come into an house, salute it.
13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.
14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
This is serious stuff dear ones; I don’t know that we realize or believe how serious it is to reject the messenger and the message of the Kingdom. From the Matthew text we see that the first thing to do upon entering a house or city is to greet them and let our peace come upon them. This is only if we have found them worthy (appropriate). In other words, are they of the light and do they have the means to take care of the ministry who has come to them? In verse fourteen we see the word “receive” which can also be translated accept. If the message of the Kingdom is not accepted, even though perhaps they were cordial, they did not receive us.
Before we move on, I want to discuss this peace Jesus keeps talking about and has talked about previously. Obviously, from the Matthew text this peace is not just some nice words to say upon entering a home, a house, a city but has far more impact, force. This ‘peace’ is a part of our spirit man, identical to the peace God has, and is otherwise in Scripture referred to as a fruit of the spirit (our spirit and the Holy Spirit). The Holy Spirit is where we got this peace in the first place (Genesis 2:7).
Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Like the other fruits of our spirit man, peace is not passive but brings great benefit to the producer (you and me) and those around the producer (others). Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
