A WELL OF TRUTH
IN HIS IMAGE AND LIKENESS

Greetings dear children of God and welcome back to A Well of Truth. Today I will be talking about one aspect of being in His image and likeness. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. Those who share and partner with us financially have an extraordinarily important role in this Ministry. Let’s start by reminding ourselves that we, mankind, are made in the image and likeness of God. We are to look like and act like God. Of course, that is rare today given the fall, the perversion of Scripture, and the influences of the world we allow into our space. Let’s examine what I hope is a familiar Scripture to all. Remember, you are to read out loud but only if you have an interest in building faith and pleasing God.
Isaiah 55:10-11 (KJV)
10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Notice here that the Lord, our God, is saying that the Words that go forth out of His mouth do not return void but accomplish all they were spoken to accomplish. Since Adam all the Words of God spoken in the earth are spoken by men, the ones with authority in the earth. Now, let’s look at the creation account.
Genesis 1:26 (KJV)
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
We see here that at the very making of man, man was given dominion, formerly held by God, over all the earth over to mankind. In addition, we see that mankind was to look like God and to act like God. Just as our children look and act like us so we were of our Heavenly Father. Words not returning void, or without effect, is just as true of us as our Heavenly Father. In other words, this is not a characteristic unique to God. Consider the following familiar passage.
Mark 11:22-24 (KJV)
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
You see, the command for the mountain (obstacle of life) to disappear did not go unfulfilled. We speak and He backs us up. We must speak in faith, supported of love (agape), and led of the Holy Spirit. Just like when He spoke the Holy Spirit backed Him up in the creation and Jesus in His earthly Ministry. Consider the following Scripture which shows this unmistakably. Shows what? That our words do not return unproductive, void, either!
Matthew 12:34-37 (KJV)
34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Dear little ones, when will we believe and do. We are to have the same results, the same witness in our lives as the Master. And we are to do the greater things as He commanded. We create whether it be good or evil as we speak.
Lord willing, I will return next Sunday with another Truth from this well.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
