IMPARTATION
Greetings dear friend, saints of God, and welcome back to A Well of Truth. Today I will be talking about a topic I don’t believe I have visited before which is “Impartation”. Perhaps you have been part of an “Impartation” service or at least heard of this. The idea is that one person usually the Pastor or a visiting Minister announces they will be imparting some spiritual gift or gifts they possess with those upon whom they lay hands in this “Impartation Service”. Before moving forward please take a moment to share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. My featured picture for this series is of a well with water and a bucket full of water presumably about to be drawn from the well. Commonly in Scripture water is referring to the Word of God. Water cleanses and gives life, likewise the Word of God cleanses and gives life.
As I walk through life with my Lord Jesus, I make a conscious effort to keep my Biblical filter in place and to ask myself where is the Bible model for this. I am not talking about having a critical faultfinding spirit which is negative and ungodly but a Biblical worldview. I ask myself what is the Bible answer to whatever I am seeing or hearing. This applies to Church as well. Please don’t just automatically swallow hook line and sinker everything you hear or see in Church. We must be good Bereans (Acts 17:11), everything must pass the Scriptural test. There is much that goes on in and around Church which is tradition and not established according to Scripture. Not all of that is wrong or sin. For example, we meet at 10 AM every Sunday, and we open every service with prayer. These things are proper for order and setting the right tone for the assembly. Listen to the Apostle Paul as he talks about the content of a meeting of the saints, the church. I am presenting this verse in multiple translations to provide some clarity.
1 Corinthians 14:26 (KJV)
26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
1 Corinthians 14:26 (AMP)
26 What then, brethren, is [the right course]? When you meet together, each one has a hymn, a teaching, a disclosure of special knowledge or information, an utterance in a [strange] tongue, or an interpretation of it. [But] let everything be constructive and edifying and for the good of all.
1 Corinthians 14:26 (YLT)
26 What then is it, brethren? whenever ye may come together, each of you hath a psalm, hath a teaching, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation? let all things be for building up;
Now if you read this chapter along with the 12th and 13th chapters you will see some guidelines, commandments provided by the Lord through the Apostle Paul. As we look at this verse above it would seem that this would result in considerable confusion even chaos. Obviously, these are highly participatory meeting of many of those present and would require strong leadership. The Apostle Paul is quick to point out that God is not of confusion (verse 33) and all things are to be done decently and in order (verse 40). I have not forgotten I am talking about the idea of “impartation” and whether that is Biblical teaching or rather a religious tradition. There are many traditions in the Church, for example what about the alter call? Where are the verses for that practice (tradition). Perhaps you have seen the same persons at the alter week after week. It is not the going to the alter that is vital, it is true repentance, with Godly sorrow, and a change of heart. What about the practice of several people gathering around a person at the alter to pray for them? Where are the Bible verses teaching that practice? This is a sign of unbelief by those praying.
In a recent conversation, the person brought up that they were in a meeting where the speaker during alter service was going around the room “praying over people to impart Spiritual Gifts”. The question that immediately rose up in me was, where is this taught or demonstrated in the Scripture? Are there examples in Scripture of one person laying hands on another and imparting a Spiritual gift like healing, decerning of spirits, prophecy, or other gifts?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Sunday as we once again dip into the well of His Truth.

20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
