I for one choose to be mindful before the Lord as to whether I am on the path He has chosen for me or am I on my own path due to the lusts of my flesh, my eyes, and my pride. On my path there will be stealing, killing, and destruction, on His path there will be abundance. I don’t think any of us require the IQ of Einstein to decide which path might work the best especially over the long run.
Psalm 25:9-10 (KJV)
9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
Now back to our text in Ephesians.
Ephesians 1:9-11 (KJV)
9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
Because of our free-will which allows the expression of Godly love, Godly covenant, and Gods way of selflessness it takes God a long time to accomplish some things, but make no mistake He is a God of covenant and He will get it done. The plan was already in place before Adam was and God had already determined that if need be He would be the Redeemer, so in His mind He had already been slain when Adam sinned.
Revelation 13:8-9 (KJV)
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.
We should re-examine our text again before I move forward.
Ephesians 1:10 (KJV)
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
What about this phrase that “he might gather together in one all things in Christ”? This is speaking of all persons from the very first one who submitted to God to the very last one to receive Jesus as Lord are gathered together in Jesus. Before sin Adam had an incorruptible eternal body, to match the eternal spirit which he received of God. At sin he changed instantly from a ‘living soul’ to a ‘dead soul’. Adam choose to corrupt his thoughts (spiritual) with those of the Serpent and the sin was expressed by the physical act of partaking of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Adams spirit died instantly, the robe of righteousness was gone, and he was naked and vulnerable to Satan. The things of God did not make any sense to his now carnal mind. The corruption of the mind has continued from that day to this day in and out of the Church. When Jesus, the Christ, was made sin for us, just like Adam, He died spiritually first then physically. When the Father resurrected Jesus from the dead He was given an incorruptible body, He was quickened, and restored to the Godhead. Because of The Blood Covenant our Heavenly Father will give us an incorruptible body, He has already quickened us spiritually by His Holy Spirit. When Jesus was restored to the Godhead with all the attributes of God (see Hebrews the first chapter) we were raised with Him and seated with Him, in Him, on the same seat of authority.
Ephesians 2:6 (KJV)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Jesus preached to the captives (Old Testament saints) in the bosom of Abraham and led them to Heaven and He is bringing all of us to Heaven as well, one in Christ.
Hebrews 12:22-23 (KJV)
22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
We are the Church of the firstborn and the Old Testament saints are the just men made perfect by the blood of Jesus and the words of their testimony when Jesus preached to them in prison.
