Now let’s turn our attention to today’s topic of The Gospel of Peace. Peace is one of the fruit of the spirit but this is a special or additional teaching on the topic we covered weeks ago. You will readily recognize this as part of what is commonly referred to as the Armor of God. Our target verse is verse fifteen.
Ephesians 6:14-16 (KJV)
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
I am going to narrow my discussion down to the phrase “gospel of peace”. The Word of God according to the Jews is like an onion with one layer after the other of insights and Truth. Others compare it to a multifaced diamond. Finding one Truth in a Scripture does not negate other Truths about the same Scripture. The Word of God is so very rich. I think most people know but I will repeat it in case someone does not, the word gospel means good news. So, we could say the good news of peace. We have the same peace that was in the beginning, the same peace God has, and the same peace that operated in the Ministry and life of Jesus in the earth.
First, I am going to deal with the Biblical Numerology of this verse (Ephesians 6:15). Ephesians is the tenth Book of the New Testament. Ten is the number of responsibility whether is in reference to God or to man. Six is the number of man. Now is the exciting part, fifteen is the number for the rest of God, the provision of God, the empowerment to live in the seventh day. When one examines the creation account, we find that all that man would ever need was in place before man was made and placed in the Garden of Eden.
God gave man absolute authority over the whole earth and everything in the earth. In addition, God blessed (empowered the man with His very own Power) the man to back up that authority or dominion. Much was lost in the fall, but God was merciful and made provision even in the fallen state. Now since Jesus came all is restored, the only and last thing remaining is the restoration of our bodies. What God has provided, made available, and how many Christians live are not even remotely close. Mainly because we do not exercise our responsibilities in the Kingdom of God. Perhaps we should live the following passages.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
John 14:15 (KJV)
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
Lord willing, I will finish this teaching on the 6th of October, next Friday is a Feast of the Lord.
