HEBREWS
Thursday – May 25, 2017

Greetings and welcome to our study of the Book of Hebrews. I have spent the last couple of days giving a little bit of insight concerning the Blood, and The Blood Covenant due to the prominent roles these play in this Book. To be fair, Blood Covenant plays a huge role in all of Scripture for without it all is naught.
Hebrews 1:1-3 (KJV)
1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
I think that all of us may be able to agree that the opening verses of this majestic Book are very stirring. God is so good to give us such wonderful material so that we might understand Him and who we are in Him. The very first verse tells us that God spoke to our fathers, those who went before us, in various ways, through various prophets, some part of the Truth, from time to time. Let’s look at this in the Amplified Version of the Bible.
Hebrews 1:1 (AMP)
1 IN MANY separate revelations [each of which set forth a portion of the Truth] and in different ways God spoke of old to [our] forefathers in and by the prophets,
Just think how fortunate we are today to not only have the sixty-six books which comprise what is called the Holy Bible but we have it in all sorts of formats. There was no written Bible until Moses wrote the Pentateuch (first five books of the Bible). Moses is some 1500 years after Adam. Until that time the people had an oral tradition of Scripture. There may have been some written portions before Moses and there are volumes following Moses of what we might call extra-Biblical or apocryphal writing. Although these are not recognized as Scripture or what is called Canonized Scripture we can have confidence in them when referenced by recognized Scripture. An example would be Enoch.
Genesis 5:24 (ESV)
24 Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him.
Hebrews 11:5 (KJV)
5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
We see from our first two witnesses that Enoch pleased God and God took him to Heaven without seeing death. There is no mention of his prophesies or any specific works other than that he pleased God. Since Enoch had such a close relationship with God it would not be surprising that God showed him all sorts of things including the Second Coming of Christ.
Jude 1:14 (KJV)
14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
This verse appears to be a reference to the Second Coming of Christ. The only way to have a close relationship with the Lord is to be pleasing to Him. Don’t you see that this is also true in the natural environment whether it be in the home or the workplace? So that we don’t miss this seemingly rather basic Truth He tells us straight out in the following verse.
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Please be aware as we study Scripture that the exercise of faith is not a New Testament thing, it is a whole Bible thing, a God thing. The New Testament, The Blood Covenant, is the documentation of the only Blood that could provide restoration and protection (that Adam did not have) for man and many of the details (benefits) of that restoration. With that in mind we could conclude that God has always operated by faith and therefore all of His creations have also operated by faith. Even in the natural we have always operated by natural faith (confidence, trust, reliance, and assurance) whether that be in our boss, our spouse, our parents, the house we live in, or the car we drive. We are faith creatures created to operate least of all in natural faith and most of all in supernatural faith. The major difference between natural and supernatural faith is that natural faith relies only upon what a man can do apart from God however supernatural faith has the capacity to utilize the immeasurable power of God.
Pleasing God has to do with the exercise of faith but we know faith without Bible love does not accomplish the purposes of God and therefore does not please Him.
Galatians 5:6 (KJV)
6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
In another place Brother Paul puts it this way by the unction of the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 13:2 (KJV)
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
To be nothing in the sight of God is not a place I want to go. To be nothing in the sight of God is to be out of His will. Let each of us determine to please God by the exercise of the faith of God with love.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
