THE SON, THE SACRIFICE
Thursday – June 15, 2017

Yes, the day is at hand when the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the goodness of our Lord (LORD) the only true and living God. The word translated from the Hebrew to English as ‘knowledge’ means to ascertain by seeing. It is the Hebrew word transliterated to English as yādaʿ according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. People saw the goodness of God expressed through Jesus and they came to see and hear more in droves. When will we quit playing Church and Christian and move into the expression of the Word of God?
Again, welcome back to The Three Minute Word and our Bible Study from the wonderful Book of Hebrews.
Hebrews 1:6-9 (KJV)
6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
I have talked at length how Jesus, The Word, came into the earth on two separate occasions. The first occasion was of His own volition via the womb of the virgin Mary. The second occasion is when He was resurrected from the dead after the crucifixion. The first time He came as a Lamb for slaughter to redeem us to God forever in Him. The second time He burst forth from the grave and Hell as our Savior, the triumphant King of kings, and our High Priest for the glory of God and our immense benefit. From the very moment of this second advent God decreed that all the angels should choose to worship Him. Angels are freewill creations just like us which is amply demonstrated by the rebellion of Lucifer with one third of the angelic hosts following him in that rebellion. I point this out due to the wording, the phrasing of Hebrews 1:6 saying “And let all the angels of God worship him” The implication is that they are given permission and a command to worship the risen Savior for He is now God again. For them not to worship would be rebellion and that did not work well the last time.
Jesus following His crucifixion and resurrection is being restored to the very Throne of God that He voluntarily left to do His part in establishing the New Blood Covenant. There was an Old Covenant involving animal sacrifice which was insufficient but allowed by God until the sufficient sacrifice, Himself, could come. Let us carefully study the following passage and the source passage from the Psalms.
Hebrews 10:4-10 (KJV)
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
I think we can all see how the first covenant which required the sacrifice of an innocent animal was a poor but tolerated substitute until God Himself, the Lamb of God, could come and make the payment for sin. The coming and sacrifice of Jesus established the second covenant (The Blood Covenant initiated with Abram and consummated when the innocent Blood of Jesus was applied to the Mercy Seat of Heaven) forever. You can hear The Word (Jesus) speaking in this passage as we carefully review verses five through nine. The Word (Jesus) understood His part, very necessary part, in the restoration of mankind, for those who would, to the family of God. God never wanted servants, He wanted sons. Heaven and the created worlds are full of servants (angels), He wanted family.
Psalm 40:6-8 (KJV)
6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,
8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
No angel could accomplish this, no animal could accomplish this, and no natural (fallen) man could accomplish this (the annulment of sin) only one who was all God and all man.
Matthew 1:18-25 (KJV)
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
The name Jesus means Savior!
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
