BEGOTTEN
Wednesday – June 14, 2017

Welcome back to The Three Minute Word Bible study from the Book of Hebrews. O how good our Lord is to His children, His sons and daughters. Now let’s get back to our lesson by first reviewing our primary text.
Hebrews 1:5-7 (KJV)
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
Jesus was the first one born again or begotten of the Father (by Grace the Holy Spirit) from the spiritual dead to eternal life. Also, Jesus is the first one resurrected from the physically dead and given an uncorrupted body. Our text (Hebrews 1:6) tells us that the Father has brought the Son into the earth more than once by the phrase “And again”. Jesus was first begotten into the earth by the Father via the womb of the virgin Mary and Jesus was begotten a second time by the Father into the earth at His resurrection from the dead following Calvary.
John 1:14 (KJV)
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
When Jesus came via the womb of Mary He was the only begotten of the Father and when He was resurrected from the dead and given full restoration He was briefly still the only begotten, the same person begotten (brought) a second time into the earth. Jesus was made sin in our stead and suffered our punishment being cast into Hell. In Hell His innocent blood and the incorruptible Words of His testimony demanded that the Father execute justice bringing Him from Hell to Abraham’s Bosom then to earth and on to Heaven with His own precious Blood to appear before the Father at the Mercy Seat. He preached the gospel to those captive in Abraham’s Bosom and they accepted His precious innocent Blood and the Words of His testimony. These old testament saints were resurrected and were the first wave of the First Resurrection. They followed Jesus onto the earth and then on to Heaven.
Matthew 27:52-53 (KJV)
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
It appears from this Scripture that there are resurrected people (old testament saints) in Heaven today that have a glorified body just as we will receive at the catching away (second wave of the First Resurrection). They are part of the First Resurrection just as we are (will be) part of the First Resurrection. There are three waves of the First Resurrection, the first wave was Jesus and the old testament saints, the second wave will be the Church, and the third wave will occur at the end of the Tribulation period.
For a period of time Jesus was the only begotten of the Father, that is until His resurrection from the dead with the Old Testament saints and then each of us one by one in our order were begotten or born into the Kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 15:20-23 (ESV)
20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
21 For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ.
Christ was the firstfruits of the work Jesus did at Calvary, in the bowels of the earth, and at the Mercy Seat of Heaven. Let me remind ourselves of the possible meanings of the word ‘Christ’ when we find it in Scripture such as in the preceding passage. It can mean Messiah, the Anointed One, and/or The Anointing. It can mean a combination of these as in this case. When Jesus (a sinless man) was made sin in our stead paying the price of sin (death – spiritual and physical) in our place Justice demanded that not only He be raised from the dead but that He be resurrected, restored to eternal life, restored as God, and given an uncorrupted body. In Him we have attained unto eternal life, are restored to the family of God with its attendant unlimited privileges, and are awaiting an uncorrupted body like that of Jesus.
The resurrection and restoration of Jesus was accomplished by His obedience and the power of God, the Holy Spirit. Beyond that the sacrifice of Jesus and His ascension to the right hand of Majesty on high allowed the Holy Spirit to once again re-enter the earth available to all persons, to live in those who accept Jesus as Lord quickening our dead spirit, and to endue with power those who are baptized in the Holy Spirit. So, Christ as firstfruits is referring not only to the gift of salvation but the baptism of the Holy Spirit. You and me brother and sister are partakers of this wondrous fruit of the obedience of Christ. Whatever God, the Father, was willing to do for Jesus, according to the Blood Covenant He is more than willing to do for us. Thank you, Father, that you honor your Word without hesitation or regret.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
