THE TRIUNE GOD AND A FLAME OF FIRE
Friday – June 16, 2017

Greetings and blessings in the name of Jesus from Patti and me at The Three Minute Word publications. Let us all be reminded to pray for the Church, the peoples who have chosen Jesus not only as Savior but as Lord as well. To receive Him only as Savior means we are willing to take the fire insurance but we have no interest in doing the will of the Father, of being like Jesus. When we make Him Lord we die to self and become selfless in the pursuits of the Kingdom of God. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary text in Hebrews for our Bible Study from that Book.
Hebrews 1:6-9 (KJV)
6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Concerning the angels, Jesus is their God and He is our God. Our God is One God but He is three, what is commonly referred to as the Trinity or as being Triune. Space and time are very important to us as natural creatures but they mean nothing to God. The Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit are one in thought, word, and action. For example, the Holy Spirit may be in the earth but the Father and Jesus have not left the Throne of Heaven. I am not aware of any clear Bible record that the Father (Jehovah) has ever left the Throne of Heaven as a distinct and separate facet of God (Elohim). Each one of the Trinity is just as much God as any of the others constituting the Trinity. You and I are triune creatures being spirit, soul, and body. At the creation, our spirit and soul were breathed into us by God (Elohim) and we became a living soul.
Genesis 2:7 (KJV)
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
We become more aware of our triune nature from the writings of the Apostle Paul although it is apparent in Scripture.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 (KJV)
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This makes sense because God (Elohim) made us in His own image and likeness.
Genesis 1:26 (KJV)
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Well, that is far enough down that rabbit hole, now back to our text. In the process of restoring Jesus to the throne of Heaven as God He also delineated the difference between Jesus and the angels, between God and the angels. In Hebrews 1:7 the Father says that His angels are spirits (no physical body) and they are “a flame of fire” Let’s look at an example of this from Exodus (YLT means Young’s Literal Translation).
Exodus 3:1-4 (YLT)
1 And Moses hath been feeding the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, priest of Midian, and he leadeth the flock behind the wilderness, and cometh in unto the mount of God, to Horeb;
2 and there appeareth unto him a messenger of Jehovah in a flame of fire, out of the midst of the bush, and he seeth, and lo, the bush is burning with fire, and the bush is not consumed.
3 And Moses saith, `Let me turn aside, I pray thee, and I see this great appearance; wherefore is the bush not burned?’
4 and Jehovah seeth that he hath turned aside to see, and God calleth unto him out of the midst of the bush, and saith, `Moses, Moses;’ and he saith, `Here am I.’
We can conclude from this passage that the fire in the midst of the bush which was not consuming the bush was an angel, a messenger of Jehovah. Notice in the fourth verse that Jehovah saw Moses turn aside to see this unnatural phenomena and God (Elohim – pleural God) called to Moses. Let’s look in the KJV as well.
Exodus 3:4 (KJV)
4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
Yep, sure enough, again two separate words referring to the triune aspects of Elohim. The word ‘LORD’ here is referring to Jehovah or the Father, and the word ‘God’ is Elohim which is a plural reference to God encompassing all three persons. Think about a natural person speaking, we speak with our whole being. We form thoughts (soul), speak words (spirit), and our physical body creates physical sound and various posturing.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
