SCHEDULED FOR DESTRUCTION
Tuesday – June 27, 2017

Greetings and welcome back to our Bible Study taken from the Book of Hebrews. It is Tuesday which is the day that I remind us all to pray for our nation, for all men (persons) and all that are in authority that we can live peaceable and quiet lives which is the will of God (1 Timothy 2:1-4). There is a terrible struggle in our nation and at its core is the effort to restore righteousness or maintain and increase iniquity (sin). Even as I write this (June 14th) there has been a shooting in Virginia involving republican members of congress, congressional staff, and capital police. The republicans are looking to end abortion and infanticide, to end the gay agenda, and return God to the public square. The devil does not want to end any of this but increase all of this and more. The left-wing agenda (really the devils’ agenda through the deception of people by their choice) is escalating from assassination by words (just look at the assault by Bernie Sanders on a Christian man at a recent hearing) to assassination by murder. The devil (through other people) is the one who comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). This and other attacks are restrained by the prayers of the saints and the mercy of God. We are to process all that we see and hear through the lens of Scripture, through the mind of Christ. The time has come when a critical mass of the body of Christ have sparked an opportunity for the Church as a whole and our nation to awake, repent, arise, tear down the high places, and walk in the triumph purchased at Calvary by the precious blood of Christ. Let’s quit just looking at the mantle of Anointing left us by Jesus and pick it up and get to work.
Now let’s review our primary Bible text.
Hebrews 1:10-12 (KJV)
10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
Last week we looked at how Jesus, the Son, the Word, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth and the heavens. A foundation is that upon which another structure rests or is made stable and or secure like a home sits upon a cement foundation. A foundation can also be the premise or idea (spiritual) which results in the bringing forth of a final product (physical). God does all things by the expression of His ideas with Anointed faith filled words. Now let me be very clear, God does nothing by Himself since the creation of man as recorded in Genesis 1:26 and following. All that God wants to accomplish in the earth always involves a man (person). The idea of God is given to a person or persons and that person must speak that idea by faith in obedience to God (love) into the earth. In this way God is then loosed to do that idea.
God is not sitting around Heaven and deciding to do this or that independent of people in the earth and then that idea shows up in the earth as a surprise to His people. He speaks to His sons and daughters and they choose to speak and do in faith or not. The will of God is frustrated commonly. Are we all clear on this Truth? A major problem today and centuries before is that we, the Church, have been abdicating our responsibilities. We have been waiting for God to do something when all the while it was our responsibility to do something. God’s ideas in our mouths allows or frees God to accomplish His will. The same “hands” that laid the foundation of the earth and the heavens as a result of the idea of Jehovah and those ideas spoken by the Word are the same ‘hands’ that move when we utter the ideas, the will, of God in faith. Those ‘hands’ are the Holy Spirit of God and the holy angels, the power of God.
As we move into Hebrews 1:11 we see that this earth, and these heavens will perish, they are physical structures (as opposed to spiritual) which by physical law (under the curse) are aging, deteriorating. He uses the comparison of a garment getting old and having to be changed. The Father points out that the Son unlike the physical things of His creation will never grow old, but shall forever be the same. This is good news for us, since whatever the Father was willing to do for he Son He must be willing and in fact do for us who are in Christ Jesus. O thank you Father! I find this use of the analogy of clothing or cloth regarding the created things very interesting.
Isaiah 45:12 (KJV)
12 I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.
Many famous scientists including Einstein as part of his Theory of Relativity have expressed the realities of this physical existence in terms of space and time being like a fabric. The devil and his cohorts (demons and deceived persons [including Christians]) are working night and day to bring fear which precludes obedience to the Word of God and faith therefore bringing the person into sin because whatever is not of faith (in and of God) is sin. An example is the lie of anthropomorphic global warming which will lead to the destruction of the earth. This will come as quite a surprise to God.
Genesis 8:22 (KJV)
22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
God has told us in our text of Hebrews that there is coming a day when this creation will be put to one side and another will take the place of this one but it has nothing to do with global warming or weather change. It has everything to do with sin (curse) and the eradication of same.
Hebrews 1:12 (KJV)
12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
This takes place as part of the final judgment. It was also recorded by the Apostle Peter.
2 Peter 3:7 (KJV)
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
One of the final acts of Justice (because of the Cross, the resurrection, and the restoration of Jesus and man) will be to remove all traces of the curse from this physical earth. The fire referenced here is the Holy Spirit and in this case a fire which consumes, consumes all ungodliness. The Lord has done a cleansing of the earth on three separate occasions and the fourth is the final and complete cleansing of the earth. The first is shown in Genesis 1:2, the next is Noah’s flood, and the third is the washing of the Word which climaxed with the physical coming of the Word. The first two were physical water, the third was spiritual water, and the fourth is spiritual fire of the Holy Spirit which consumes not only spiritual uncleanness but physical as well.
Revelation 21:1-3 (KJV)
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
All is restored, once again Heaven (New Jerusalem) can co-exist as one continuous city with the earth (not the whole earth but the Garden of Eden restored [Jerusalem]. Israel will be restored to the parameters (borders) of Eden, which is Gods’ promise to Abram/Abraham and his Seed (Jesus). The Old Jerusalem and the New Jerusalem will be as one city connected (compacted) together. O what a day brother and sister and we have front row seats!
Partnership Invitation: As we end our study of the Book of Hebrews for today I want to extend an invitation to the followers of this blog who are not partners to consider becoming partners with us in the disseminating of the knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord. Prayerfully consider partnership and if led of the spirit simply go to the blog and you will find the partnership information in the right sidebar.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
