ANGELS, LUCIFER, MAN, SON OF MAN

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior from Dr. Wood and Patti at The Three Minute Word publications. God is so good. We are at the start of a brand-new week, opportunities will be present to advance the Kingdom of God if we are obedient to the leadership of that still small voice of the Holy Spirit. Do not expect the will of God to be hard and burdensome. If it is, it is not Him, it is you (self-imposed).
Matthew 11:28-30 (KJV)
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Thank you, Jesus! Now let’s get back to our Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews.
Hebrews 2:5-9 (KJV)
5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.
6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
When we consider all the time and space that God is using to admonish them and us concerning the exceeding superiority of the Son (Jesus) to angels we must take it serious but we can also conclude that angel worship was and had been a prevalent matter. We also might see it as evidence that there was a time when a world was subjected to angels but not this one (following Genesis 1:2). There may have been a time when Lucifer had a physical body of the earth therefore giving him authority in the earth. Scripture tells us that body was of every precious stone.
Ezekiel 28:13 (KJV)
13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
I would suggest that you read this entire passage from Ezekiel which deals with the downfall (sin) of Lucifer. Look at Ezekiel 28:18 and then consider the following verse.
Luke 10:18 (KJV)
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
As you know if a physical body enters the earth’s atmosphere from outside the atmosphere (like Heaven) without proper shielding and the proper angle it will burn up. I will leave this right here now that I have whet your appetite and curiosity and move back to our Hebrews text. As we focus on Hebrews 2:6 and 7 we will quickly recognize this as a quote from Psalm eight.
Psalm 8:4-6 (KJV)
4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
This Psalm is a Scripture which is prophetic of the coming Messiah, the position man had in the beginning, and mans restored position in Christ Jesus. Mans’ restored position, his crowning with glory and honor, regained authority and the power to enforce the authority is solely due to the work of the Christ. The term “son of man” as a reference to Jesus (the Word made flesh) occurs over eighty times in the gospels whereas Jesus is referred to as the “son of God” only twenty-eight times. The observer being recorded in this eighth Psalm is amazed that God, Majesty on high, pays any attention to man or the son of man. This observer is stunned at the position God, Jehovah, has given to the man and the son of man.
In verse five the word translated as ‘angels’ is a mistranslation and should have been translated as the word Elohim or God. As you will recall, Elohim is the pleural name for God, Jehovah, The Word, and the Holy Spirit. Man was created just a little lower than Elohim and placed in the Garden of Eden. When the Word came into the earth, He emptied Himself of all that made Him God to be as other men and therefore a little lower than God (Elohim). The observer notes that man and the son of man are encased (crowned) with copious splendor, excellence, and magnificence. And as if that wasn’t enough Jehovah gave them (man and the son of man) dominion over the works of God’s hands (which is the Holy Spirit and angels) and everything is under their feet. There is no enemy that can look a redeemed man (or woman) or the son of man in the eye, the best they can do is look up at the soles of our feet. We alone are responsible for giving our spiritual enemies a position on a par with us or elevating them above us. When we have an unrelenting mountain before us we have allowed our spiritual enemies to be on a par with us and if we have bowed to poverty and disease we have allowed them a position above us. Let us therefore repent and take the place in Christ Jesus freely and joyfully given to us.
