SON OF MAN
Tuesday – July 25, 2017

Welcome back to our Bible Study from the wonderful Book of Hebrews presented by Dr. Wood and The Three Minute Word publications. Also, greeting in the name of our Lord from Dr. Wood and Patti. God is so good brother and sister. We are so blessed to have the Word of God and the myriad of accounts to teach us from real life examples the do’s and the don’ts of the Kingdom of God. What works and what does not. Before we delve into our text be reminded to pray (decree) for the many governments and all in authority across this great land. The picture above is of the Texas Capitol building located in Austin Texas. It is our privilege and great responsibility to speak the will of God into the earth. If we do not, it does not get done, period. Speak His Words in faith as led of the Holy Spirit and God Himself will see to it that His Word is performed. Our decrees at the behest of the Holy Spirit move the hands (Holy Spirit and holy angels) of God to accomplish all His will. Our being quiet or confused in speech leaves the will of God frustrated, at least for a season. Now to our text.
Hebrews 2:5-9 (KJV)
5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.
6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
As you will recall this section of Scripture is quoting from Psalm eight.
Psalm 8:4-6 (KJV)
4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
I had pointed out that this is a prophetic Psalm, a Messianic Psalm, and is pointing to a post-redemption time period. We know it is Messianic by the term “son of man” and we know it is post-redemption by the term “thou hast put all things under his feet:” The Word, the Son, Jesus was the son of man from the womb of the virgin Mary into eternity. There is no question for most people that Jesus is the son of God but is the term son of man applicable beyond Calvary. The physical body in which Jesus walked was no part from Mary or Joseph. The other sibling that came along in that family were not half brothers and sisters as is said commonly. The body in which Jesus walked the earth was fashioned by the Father just as the body of Adam was fashioned by the Father.
Hebrews 10:5 (KJV)
5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
Hebrews 10:4-5 (AMP)
4 Because the blood of bulls and goats is powerless to take sins away.
5 Hence, when He [Christ] entered into the world, He said, Sacrifices and offerings You have not desired, but instead You have made ready a body for Me [to offer];
The Tabernacle in the wilderness shouts Jesus, it was a picture of the coming Messiah, as it were from the house tops. The Tabernacle was a place prepared for sacrifice, for the forgiveness of sin, for the Mercy Seat, and for the presence of God. Mercy Himself came and the Father prepared a tabernacle (body) for Him, a body for sacrifice, the Lamb who would take away the sins of the world. In Genesis 2:7 God breathed of Himself, the breath of life, into the body He had prepared for this man, Adam.
Genesis 2:7 (KJV)
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Jesus emptied Himself of all that made Him God becoming as other men and entered this body of sacrifice prepared for Him.
Philippians 2:6-8 (AMP)
6 Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained,
7 But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being.
8 And after He had appeared in human form, He abased and humbled Himself [still further] and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross!
In the passage to follow, verses nine and ten are present realities NOT future. The minute the work of Calvary was done God highly exalted Jesus, we have been reading it and studying it here in Hebrews. The name of Jesus causes every knee to bow. Jesus has given us His name and when we use it in faith, in love, in obedience to the leadership of the Spirit according to the will of God the knee being addressed will bow whether it is financial, health, or other issues.
Philippians 2:8-11 (KJV)
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
We will pick up this wonderful Truth tomorrow and dive a little further into the works of His hands and what is in subjection under His feet.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
