PROMISE TO ABRAHAM – PART NINE

Remember that we are spirit first and natural or physical second. God (Elohim) made the spirit man (Genesis 1:26-28) before the physical man (Genesis 2:7) in the beginning. All things that exist in the natural or physical realm existed in the spiritual realm first. They are ideas then words then physical. We see this right off the bat in the Word of God with the original creation (Genesis 1:1) and then light (Genesis 1:3). It is important for us to be mindful of the co-existence of the spirit and physical with the spiritual being the superior and originating realm. We tend to think in terms of one or the other and not both simultaneously but we must put that inaccurate and limited thinking to one side. To think only in the physical or the spiritual given anything opens us to disaster. This is important in our study of God making promise to Abraham for a physical child (Isaac) and land. That physical promise is counterbalanced with the spiritual Seed (Jesus) and the Kingdom of God. Both were spiritual realities before the foundation of the worlds (Ephesians 1:4 and others). Both Isaac and Jesus become reality through faith, love, and leadership of the Spirit (all spiritual forces). Now let us review our primary text.
Hebrews 6:12-15 (KJV)
12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
God is so good to give us His Holy Word to guide us into all Truth and all of His goodness. Unfortunately, there are many times we know a better way or were too lazy to discover and implement the thoughts, the Words, and the ways of God. The lack of goodness, the presence of evil (poverty, sickness, stealing, killing, or destroying) reflects unbelief or ignorance (due to laziness) or both. Ladies and gentlemen the Church and the world are indoctrinated with the traditions of men and the doctrine of devils. We must repent and return to Scripture. Now, I am going to fast-forward in the life of Abraham to the birth of Isaac.
Genesis 21:1-6 (KJV)
1 And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken.
2 For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.
3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.
4 And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him.
5 And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.
6 And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me.
We see from our text above that the time from the renaming of Abram to Abraham which forced Abraham to declare what was not yet as though it were (faith) just like God to the birth of Isaac is about one year. In Genesis 17:17 Abraham made a faith declaration (decreed a thing) and confessed the reality of it thereafter due to his name change. Quickly thereafter there was a natural conception (yes, they had sex), pregnancy (nine months), and the birth of the physical child, the child promised Abram/Abraham, now the stage was firmly set for The Child of promise. Faith, the spiritual preceded the natural.
Romans 4:16-21 (KJV)
16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb:
20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
When we look at verse seventeen (victory) above it is a mouthful. I don’t know that this is referring only to the quickening of Sarah and Abrahams physical bodies for this event, the conception and birth of Isaac. Remember, when Sarah dies, Abraham remarries and has six other children, a lasting miracle. All that we have been studying has to do with the quickening of our spiritual deadness. Mankind became spiritually dead on the Day of Sin and physical death entered as well into the mankind and all of the physical creation. We needed a Blood Covenant to provid the legal authority for God to bring the Seed, Jesus the Messiah into the earth. Tomorrow we will move to the most critical part of this New Blood Covenant.
