MELCHISEDEC
Monday – December 4, 2017

The weekend has fled all too fast and we are back to Monday. Of course, since I retired Monday’s and Friday’s don’t have the same import they previously held in my thinking. It is time to once again pickup with our wonderful Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews. I will review the last few verses of the preceding chapter then we will immerse ourselves into the seventh chapter.
Hebrews 6:18-20 (KJV)
18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
Hebrews 7:1 (KJV)
1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
By way of review let’s remind ourselves concerning the numerology of chapter six and then our new chapter for study, chapter seven. Hebrews is the nineteenth Book of the New Testament and nineteen is the number of faith, six is the number of man, and twenty (number of verses in chapter) is the number of redemption. So, we could say that men (and women) everywhere need to have faith in the redemption, the redemption bought for us in the person of Jesus Christ. As we look at chapter seven we still have the number nineteen representing faith, seven is the number of spiritual completion, and 28 (number of verses in the seventh chapter) represents eternal life. No Jesus no redemption, no Jesus and no eternal life. Thank you, Jesus!
As we take a brief look back at the ending verses of the sixth chapter we are reminded of “two immutable things” which are the Word of God and the Blood Covenant. We were reminded that our hope is anchored in this Truth. Bible hope (promise of God) is not in question but is a certainty brought about from the spiritual realm by faith into the physical realm. The Word of God (the Covenant) and the Blood of Jesus, the affirming Blood for God and man of The Blood Covenant are both within the veil. Just as in the time of old the Covenant was in the Ark of the Covenant in the presence of God within the veil and the blood of an innocent animal was applied once yearly by the High Priest within the veil. Now, Jesus is entered once for all for all time. Our hope, the hope of eternal life is in Christ Jesus, His sacrifice, His Blood is accepted of the Father, and now our hope is certain and we have an eternal Covenant. As chapter six came to a close we find that Jesus is a forerunner who has entered within the veil.
So, there is no confusion the veil that is being referred to was illustrated in the earth by the Tabernacle and the Temple (mirror image of Temple in Heaven). In the tent of meeting (cut away in picture below) there is the Holy Place which housed the Candelabra, the table with Shew Bread, and the Alter of Incense. The Holy Place was separated from the Most Holy Place (cut away in picture) by a heavy curtain called a “veil” where the presence of God was as well as the Mercy Seat, the Ark of Covenant which housed the Covenant, and the Cherubim who arched over the Mercy Seat and the Ark of the Covenant. This veil was rent from top to bottom with the sacrifice of Jesus and the sealing of the New Blood Covenant with His Blood.
Matthew 27:50-51 (KJV)
50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
Mankind could now, once again, enter into the presence of God, the Father had His family back! The following depiction of the Tabernacle may help to visualize this better.

Jesus entered the Most Holy Place in the presence of the Father presenting His sacrifice and His Blood and broke down the barrier between the Father of mankind. Because of this we can all enter into and in fact we are continually in the Most Holy Place in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:6 (KJV)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Jesus entered first then each of us in our time. Jesus was made a High Priest in the order of Melchisedec. Made a High Priest, it was not by inheritance as established for the tribe of Levi. In fact, Jesus is of the tribe of Judah not Levi. The old priesthood established by commandment is set aside and a new priesthood established by the One who restored eternal life. We have studied Melchisedec before and we will now study him some more when we pick up here tomorrow.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (GW)
24 The LORD will bless you and watch over you.
25 The LORD will smile on you and be kind to you.
26 The LORD will look on you with favor and give you peace.’
