ONCE FOR ALL
Wednesday – December 20, 2017

The picture today features my lovely wife, my faithful companion overlooking our kingdom (ranch) at the time. God is so good. Shifting back to our Bible Study. We desperately needed a Savior, no man would do, no animal would do, no amount of silver and gold would do, only the sacrifice of God Himself would and could do taking away the horrible consequences of sin. O what a Savior brother and sister, give Him thanks, give Him praise, and worship (submit all) before Him. Once again let us delve into the final few verses of this seventh chapter of Hebrews, seven is the number of spiritual perfection, and we are talking about the One, the only One, who returned us to spiritual perfection. Now, our primary text.
Hebrews 7:26-28 (KJV)
26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.
Today we will be focusing our attention on the twenty-seventh verse above. When God gave the various laws concerning sacrifice (to cover sin until Messiah come) to Moses, that sacrifice was to be daily. As you will recall God also appointed certain Feasts of the Lord or moeds (appointed times for a specific purpose) and the details of the daily sacrifice could differ on those days. Let’s look at the command for the daily sacrifice.
Numbers 28:1-4 (KJV)
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, My offering, and my bread for my sacrifices made by fire, for a sweet savour unto me, shall ye observe to offer unto me in their due season.
3 And thou shalt say unto them, This is the offering made by fire which ye shall offer unto the LORD; two lambs of the first year without spot day by day, for a continual burnt offering.
4 The one lamb shalt thou offer in the morning, and the other lamb shalt thou offer at even;
These offerings and all of the others were part of the Atonement, the sin offering, that allowed God to overlook not expunge the sin of the Old Testament saints until Messiah could come. Notice that the LORD (Jehovah) calls these offerings “My offering”. Notice the mention of bread, He calls this bread “my bread for my sacrifice”. Who is the bread of life? The bread of life is none other than Jesus, the Messiah. Listen to the Messiah Himself.
John 6:51 (KJV)
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
Jesus (Messiah) received all sin for all time in His flesh, Scripture says He was made sin for us or on our behalf.
2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
When Jesus took our sins, all sin, backwards and forwards in time we could once again be and were made the righteousness of God in Him. Notice, to be righteous we must be “in him.” Righteousness has come upon or to all that believe, that have faith in Jesus Christ. That body of sin, taken in His physical body, caused His spirit man died for the wages of sin is death (Genesis 2:17, Romans 6:23). Jesus mind remained uncorrupted and was the key to His redemption and ours. That body of Jesus made sin for us was cast off just as the foreskin is cast off in the circumcision. When Jesus was raised (resurrected) from the dead it was not with that sin laden body but a new glorious and uncorrupted body and we can look expectantly for the same.
Colossians 2:11 (KJV)
11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
As we look back at our secondary text in Numbers 28:2 we see the mention of fire. Fire in Scripture is generally representative of the Holy Spirit and Spiritual fire just like natural fire is a cleansing agent. However, it is my observation that fire alone cannot obliterate sin, there must be the shedding of Blood (Hebrews 9:22). After all this is what the whole redemption account is about. The Holy Spirit could not just quicken sinful man, the “breath of life” could not just return, He can countenance no sinful flesh. There had to be a Blood Covenant, an agreement between God and man and that happened with Abraham and was ratified forever at Calvary. Now upon our acceptance of Him (Jesus), of the Blood, the quickening Spirit once again purifies our spirit man again giving eternal life. Thank you, Jesus, one sacrifice forever!
Hebrews 10:9-12 (KJV)
9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (GW)
24 The LORD will bless you and watch over you.
25 The LORD will smile on you and be kind to you.
26 The LORD will look on you with favor and give you peace.’
